Cowboy Bebop isn’t obscure. Over a million people have watched Bebop.
It’s a meme to call Blizzard a small indie company.

I didn’t say Blizzard can’t afford it. I said they’re not going to pay it. The point of these skins is to maximize profits, which doesn’t happen if most of their sales get swallowed up in licensing fees.
No one in their right mind would play a game they don’t like because of collabs
I don’t care about cartoons and comics, but give me a quality Lidl or Aldi skin and I will wear it with pride.
I think a bigger issue is give people a game they want to play. All the skins in the world doesn’t really help if people can’t be bothered to play the game.
Marvel guy, shoots explosive playing cards I think
But back to the subject, Op makes a great point. COD is getting good collabs… so why isnt ow? Its the same company now… and plus, OW can just do collabs with its other games, like warcraft, starcraft, or diablo(but like real ones, with a bunch of skins), and that would be free since you dont have to buy a lisence to use it.
Like Cmon blizzard, do something EVERYONE can enjoy, like your other games.
Aren’t those Sony movies?
I can never keep track of which is which…
blizzard has their head firmly wedged and locked inside their own butts and refuse to even humor the idea of advertising another game (unless it’s one of their own) in their own games. that said they probably just go for the cheapest ips to license in their own games. both OPM and cowboy bebop are kind of old and not as deeply ingrained in the public conscious as they were in the past
It could be a franchise rising back to popularity due to the Netflix adaptation, granted not perfect, it felt logical by mainstream standard if you were to go the anime-safe picks here.
The first 3 are, Eternals (a movie) and Inhumans (a TV show) were MCU
Does this even happen on a similar scale to OW’s big collabs? Like even Fortnite collabs with TV/movies way more than other video games.
The only examples I can think of which go beyond like a single skin or weapon are gacha games (big money rolling for limited time waifus). The only other one is Netherrealm putting MK characters in Injustice, but that’s a self collab.
It’s funny to read people post things so confidently while being so wrong.
First off, in what sense is OPM old? Not only is it not even finished yet, but they (finally) announced the start of animating Season 3 last month or so.
Second of all, a great series is a great series. I don’t even watch anime yet I watched and loved Cowboy Bebop. It being from 1998 doesn’t mean that it’s packed up and locked way forever. In that case, series and movies that just came out and were loved by many become irrelevant as time passes according to you.
I personally like that Overwatch is teaming up with the great brands that you don’t see everywhere else and that are easy shoe-ins, makes them more unique and special.
