"Classic" - A Fit Up

You forgot:

  1. Ignore and sabotage anything that might go against the company’s ego. Make sure that this 6v6/OW1 fad goes away so corporate and the head honchos dont feel like they took bad decisions. Keep making OW2 a whalefest to appease shareholders.

They dont CARE about player opinion unless its whales or streamers.

I would like to think the massive failure of Concord would remove any stupid thoughts like that in their heads. The move you suggest is “Make the game worse, ruin our legacy’s image, make money”. That is a BOLD strategy, and one that I think I’d lose my job if I suggested it.

It’d be easy to say “Oh, they want that? Lets give it to them” if they want money, but what do I know. There is some brainrot in Actiblizz nowadays so maybe they will chose the stupid plans and sink their company.

Blizz’s motto has always been ‘‘always march forward’’ when it comes to gameplay decisions.

The game is now f2p. They dont need to sell a good game, they need to sell skins to whales.

just let go. dont think about all the negative. take a chill pill and go have fun. enjoy this limited mode flaws and all.

2016 was an overall strong year for shooters even if not specifically hero shooters outside of Overwatch.

but even with your main competition being an aging Team Fortress 2, you don’t sell 10+ million copies in under a month with a game that is unplayable.

I don’t think it was the best version of Overwatch 1 but we also don’t need to act like the game had no redeeming qualities until 1-2 years when Jeff Kaplan descended from the heavens to deliver us perfection.

Also keep in mind one of the biggest early changes, the addition of hero limits, is coming in a few days.

I don’t see a valid reason to throw a fit over this unless you just want to get in an argument. It’s fun nostalgia for those of us who actually played it. Literally the first thing in years Blizzard has given people like me and people can’t handle it lol.

True. Anyone saying “it was only popular because we didn’t know how to play it” is coping. It was popular because of the fun style and inventive characters. And how long does it take to learn a game? A month? An unknowable time because the “its only popular because…” cope isn’t true?

Sure, trust the devs. Because they’ve always delivered and never lied.

Likewise I think that the charm of Launch OW1 is that people were new to it.

But we are revisiting it now and it feels very… incomplete. Personally I cant wait for Sym 2.0 to be back.

The charm of Overwatch was fun comps, neat characters and mechanics, and a fun art style. Being new didn’t matter because, if it was a bad or even an average game, there’d be no amount of “new player syndrome” that could fix it.

Overwatch 1 was fun. It was well made. Well enough that people bought and streamed and played and enjoyed it. If Overwatch 2 was better due to being made better, we’d know. The short answer is “its not better because its not made better”.

I was suspicious that they’d try to torpedo 6v6 for a long time leading up, but based on the effort and how much season time they’re devoting to the different tests and the dev interview with Spilo today, I now think they’re genuinely coming at it in good faith.

One thing I found reassuring from today is that they said (multiple times) it’s not going to be a straight “pass/fail” situation and there’s many paths to success and ways of going about coexisting depending on just how high the player pull is. It’s not like 6v6 is going to have to out-preform 5v5 to be worth keeping around, it just needs a dedicated base. They were also aware that a Comp mode would be needed.

There’s more than a few quirks with “Classic” Widow:
-Scope speed is far slower than what I remember
-Quick-scoping to retain charge is not there like it was before it was removed
