It needs to be moved back away from the point. Right now there’s still very little point in trying to push third point and it’s often even a detriment.

Well the thing is with third you don’t need to cap all of it at the same time.
You can cap 1/3 get a point (lose) win the next point and attempt to cap the second chunk for a win (if I’m counting right)
Since the enemy all insta rez now after each tick it’s best to get that first tick then fall back to be ready to retake the previous point. If you already pushed them back to there taking one tick puts you at 3 points, winning the previous point will be 4, then you just need the one tick at their spawn again to win.
The goal of the gamemode is to get progress on the third point so your team is at an advantage going into the final round. That or just cap the point.
So the strategy is to try your best to capture the second point with minimal ultimate usage, that way your team can use them for the more valuable third point.

Yesterday i had a match where the ennemy team kept coming back to the point even tough we were murdering them left and right.
We killed each of them 6 times before finally having our tank dying forcing us to go the the previous point that we took without any efforts considering they werent coming back to contest as fast.
Its so dumb that in comp a lot of teams just leaves the final point to the ennemy team and prepares on the next already.
3rd point is the participation medal of the game mode:
All “stomps” are 5:3 because it gives the losing team 60% of the score required to win for free.
Imagine if payload just pushed the attacker payload to the start of 3rd point for overtime because the other team pushed it the whole way.
Then the winning team has to fight the ENTIRE game disadvantaged, only for the losing team to win 2 fights and take the whole match in a “reverse sweep”. 90% of the time this is from saving 5 ults on the final score because there’s no incentive to use ultimates on third points so you can snowball them.
Game mode is actually braindead.
