Cassidy to Full Name Change

I mean if we change Cole to Cletus he’d enter Spiderman villain territory.

Theyve only gone and called the cowBOY character a name that a girl was called once, I can’t cope with this I’m going to bed

This was actually my first thought too. And does that make Ashe the Sundance Kid? But also, there’s another famous cowboy named Hopalong Cassidy, a fictional cowboy hero from the early 1900’s. Cassidy has strong cowboy roots. Cole on the other hand… did they just do that for alliteration? Was it to keep the “My name’s not Joel” line?

Im sorry that im not American and i dont care about some random American cowboy name making me not cultured person. :man_shrugging:

good thing it’s not your name then lol. Why is this so hilarious to me :sob::sob: actly cracking up over this

I believe this is the intended reference. But yeah Cassidy is a super cowboy name.

I just call him Mccree.

Easy.

Her full name is Elizabeth Caledonia “Calamity” Ashe. A nod to Calamity Jane, but she was known to be apart Wild Bill Hickok crew. She also dressed in rich men’s clothes. History is weird.

Cole is a decent first name for alliteration. It could also be slightly attributed to sounding like Charcoal which is very western.

Oh man, you’re gonna hate it when you find out that Genji and Hanzo’s outdated old man names are derived from womanizing novel protagonist and a ruthless shinobi commander, respectively. Or that Pharah and Ana’s punk eyeliner is a symbol of protection and health. Or that the dumb Robot Cow is a cow because cows represent prosperity and wellbeing in most sub-Saharan cultures. Or that Widowmaker is Roman Catholic.

Point is, cultural diversity is a core feature lore, hero design, and map design in this game. You could try learning something about other cultures, for once, or you could choose to remain ignorant, but you absolutely do not get to whine and complain because Overwatch made a cultural reference and it flew over your head.

Cassidy is also a male name in other countries so like honestly who cares.

Too much thought here into “masculine”

Meanwhile Jesse was also used for both men and women but no problem there?

I KNEW THE NEW LAST NAME SOUNDED FAMILIAR!!!

I dont hate on names, i just dont like being called uncultured base only on someone else culture that have nothing to do with place i live in.
(i could only laught if they do something like calling ship a Vessel thats the closest to me not liking names)
I dont mind anyone using anything, but lay off with agressive tone when you post your view on this. Especially since all i did i say i dont know some random American, yet it was all you needed to assume that i for some reason hate references like that from real life.

What about BAMF?

I was hoping for Bill Something.

To extra cultured people, Cole Cassidy sounds like two… Actresses

Leftism brain rot at its best.

I don’t like the name change because it’s two first names.

That’s…not the problem at all. The problem is that it simply doesn’t fit McCree’s character whatsoever. Like not even a little. From a writing standpoint, it’s very poorly designed. :man_shrugging:

For reference, I’ve got no issues with feminine dudes.

I am one. I am scrawny as hell and plan on wearing makeup for the love of god.

Why in the world are you being so aggressive right off the bat here?
