Why does Ana have anti-nade? Imagine how OP anti-nade would be on Genji. Heck, why doesnât Genji have a hitscan one-shot like Widowmaker? Or a tracking grenade like Cassidy? In fact, why canât Genji discord like Zen or have a 3x headshot mulitplier like Kiriko?
Itâs almost like theyâre different heroes with different kits and are balanced around their unique combination of abilities.
And you unironically think Genji would be weaker with blink instead of dash? He be incredibly strong with blink⌠three dodges with a 3 second cooldown and no cast time⌠and a free escape (even without dash reset) and much lower re-engagement times.
I hope youâre trolling, because Genji mains are probably drooling at the idea of having blinks rather than dash.
Same reason why Tracer has recall as a âget-out-of-jail free card,â heâs a flanker with very low range. That means he needs to play within melee range of the enemy backline, without much support from his team. This means he needs to take much greater risks, which means he needs greater survivability to counter these high risks.
Just the act of âflankingâ itself is a huge risk, as youâre investing massive amounts of time and resources to set-up the flank⌠Genji doesnât generate any value by default, unlike heroes like S76 or Ashe, who can provide a lot of pressure by simply existing and firing at the enemy team from range. If Genji doesnât achieve anything from his flank (whether getting kills or forcing key enemy resources), he loses by default.
Even with his high mobility AND deflect, he still has the highest death rate in OW2. He wouldnât be playable without these defensive and mobility tools.
His sustained damage is really low by any standards. However, he has a decent TTK combined with his dash and melee, which is used to assassinate low-hp enemies in the backline.
But the big caveat is that his damage only works at melee range, and it only works in a 1 v. 1 scenario.
So yeah, Genji SHOULD win a 1 v. 1 if he gets into melee range. Just like how Widowmaker SHOULD win a 1 v. 1 if you try fighting her across the map.
The counter is to simply avoid dueling Genji at point-blank range, and burn him down by abusing the fact that he has horrendously bad ranged damage (to the point where most supports have significantly better ranged damage.)
Or ask for help, because Genji will be fighting in YOUR backline. This means itâs way easier for your supports to aid you than the Genjiâs supports helping him.
Or position in ways where Genji canât easily reach you. For example, by tracking him and rotating when he goes on flanks.
Or just pressure him out while heâs setting up his flanks. Hitting 1 - 2 shots at range will force him to back out and find a health pack.
And how is âbloatâ a valid argument? Two of the strongest dps last season was Cassidy and Widowmaker⌠Both of them are basically walking left-click simulators. Itâs almost like âbloatâ has little correlation with how strong a hero isâŚ

No, i am not a genji main⌠Less than 5% of my DPS Time is on Genji, but i can say for sure, he is fine and balanced from my point of view. Hanzo/Widow need nerfs, not Genji
I would make only 1 change. the cooldown on dash shouldnât reset unless in ultimate.

I just want nano to be removed from genji so he can have a good ult no reliant on nano and his nutral to be better with 29 damage which would only effect higher ranks

Iâm saying she doesnât need it. she has 4 ways to heal herself as it is. Reaper has to get in close so the life steal makes sense.
I think itâs the most unique feature of the hero and removing it would feel terrible. His damage output is very inconsistent and Dash reset is one thing that makes Genji being able to pop off hard occassionally. Otherwise he would just spam shurikens from distance for whole game and rarely get one kill at best (outside of blade where you also recognize the need for Dash reset).
Dash reset enables him to go aggro on target and get out or move to the next target and snowball the teamfight. Itâs associated with big risk, because if you waste your movement cooldown and donât get the kill, you are just toast.
If anything about Genji should change itâs the Deflect. I never really liked the fact that it can block melee damage or shots in melee range. It gets him cheap autowin sometimes, where he dashes into you, shots you once, presses E and you canât do anything about it. He will line up next shot, cancel deflect and finish you off. Being able to interact with Deflect in any way would be nice. Funny thing is Genji mains cry about Zen kick, because there is actually mechanic that punishes them from ooga booga dashing into enemy with Deflect on. I want that interaction with him for every hero.
