Idk how to tell you this bud, the PVP gameplay has been the core aspect of the game since launch, i do not think the majority of players actually give a damn about the lore

Let’s put it this way - without unique heroes and unique visuals, it would be just another boring shooter, one of the many. Secret to success of Overwatch was that it managed to capture audience, that usually isn’t interested in games of that kind.

except the characters have unique abilities, their lore is sometimes outright horrible but their gameplay mechanics are fun, thus they focused on the PVP aspect, where the lore just comes as an afterthought
When they focused on PvP aspect is when game started to fall apart, somehow.

Nobody cares about PVP games as a whole. People played this game for the characters, it’s as obvious as it gets. They did not launch this game thinking “oh man I can’t wait to lose for the millionth time in a row today!” or “Oh I just love that they decided to go 5v5 and force RQ while refusing to gut the support role in its entirety!”
Most people with brain cells played for favorite characters and nothing more, the bad balance and horrific format decisions killed anyone’s true enjoyment of the PVP game. It also doesn’t mean they should never make anything with PvE. OW2 was announced as a separate game and that’s what should happen someday.

Then why do games like fortnite, valorant, counter strike, COD or battlefield have massive player counts? Why are almost every top watched games on twitch PVP games? This is such a terrible take, do you even play games?
And yes, people still play 5v5 for some reason even if feels worse to play compared to 6v6

The amazing capacity some players have to deflect blame never ceases to amaze me.
Claiming that in a game that has no RNG element (like hearthstone for example) is beyond Wild and Wrong.
Doesn’t feel worse for the vast majority mate, otherwise this game would be dead, thats the proof

I’ve said before that I am not good at this game, but nobody actually is. They can’t be with how many stupid changes they’ve made, which includes 5v5.
