I don’t think someone should be reported for not being in voice chat. There are many reasonable explanations for why someone isn’t talking. But those people will usually respond to a “group up” or something like that. But what about those people who will not acknowledge what their team is saying at all. For example, I had a D.Va on my team the other day who would never respond in any way when I tried to communicate with her to combo our ults (I was sombra). It seemed to me they were either listening to music and intentionally ignoring everything we were saying and just playing by themselves. Is this something you can report?
You cant force someone to communicate. You can ask im tout listen attention least.
The Reporting in this game is nuts. Even kindergartners are less quick to run to authority than this community.
I’m just asking. Not saying I’d do it.
No, not communicating is explicitly listed as an invalid reason to report. If you report someone for not communicating, you risk being punished yourself for false reporting.
No. What you can do is make a LFG chat with mandatory mic and kick whoever doesn’t reply. Of course they can still reply until the game start and then leave voice chat.
Oh why stop there? Report someone for not comboining ults. Better yet report someone for not going in on your ult advantage.
Nah Ive got one. This is going to be big…You ready? Report someone for dying to an ULT. I told ya have fun.
You sound awfully triggered. I didn’t report the guy. My whole team was crying the whole time that the guy wasn’t communicating and they were talking about reporting him. I thought it was a weird reason to report but I could understand why they were annoyed by this guy.
You were trying to get the Dva to play around you when you should have been playing around the Dva. I know it’s not ideal sometimes but comp games often have average coordination at best, and sometimes its better to just play around the most stubborn player than try to convince them to play around you.
This has worked for me in many of my games. Now the games where you have 2 or more stubborn players, you just have to give it a shot and don’t get your expectations too high if your team falls flat.
I would say that the player is worth reporting if they are doing their own thing at least two or three times and severely under performing (feeding). I get that the report system has a gray area between:
NOT Reportable : “A player is playing poorly”
Reportable : “A player is sabotaging the team through in game mechanics, such as feeding”
So I do my best to determine which it is, regardless of how much they want to coordinate or play around others, and if they are indeed feeding I’ll generally report them.
to the OP:
No
Just no
for one simple reason: no player is required by the game to own a mic, much less use one
My real question I guess is this. When i go into quick play, I’ll take off my mic and just listen to music while I’m shooting stuff. It will result in me sometimes not hearing that riptire and getting wrecked or ignoring that my whole team died and I’m 1v6ing the enemy team and staggering. But it’s quick play and no one seems to really care. But if I entered comp with that mentality of “I don’t really care. I’m just gunna do whatever”, is that reportable? Because it seems like that’s what this guy was doing.
I’m not saying I’d report them for this because I wouldn’t. He payed for the game and he doesn’t have to go super tryhard in comp. But there are plenty of people who would report for this and see it as sabotage. I just want to know what blizzard thinks about it because they are the ones who make the rules.
- not every one speaks english
- not every one has the confidence to speak
- playing without headphones = you dont want toxic people screaming and like that beeing heard in the whole house and the risk that this will happen (especially in OW) is to high = Voice chat off.
there are more good reasons for “not communicating”, so… that will never be reportable especially because YOU CANNOT FORCE someone to talk with you.
Voice chat is immensely overrated. It’s usually a tool people use to boss others around or complain.
So no, the other player not communicating with you is not reportable. But doing false reports is a suspendable offense.
Okay seriously now, just because he doesn’t have a Mic doesn’t mean he can’t hear you.
Most consoles can speak through a television and he can hear you. I don’t know how it works on pc.
I think he didn’t want to switch cos people were flaming him. He probably got pissed and didn’t care about your synergy. All he wanted was to play a game and be left alone.
One could probably report him. You can type anything in the report box. But would blizzard take action against That? I think not
On console you can exit the team chat all together which basically mutes the whole team. He was the only one not in team chat so he couldn’t hear us. We’d say “group up” but many times he went in anyway and staggered. Sometimes he did seem to respond though. I’d say what percent my ultimate was and he wouldn’t acknowledged this so I’d have to guess when he was going to use D.Va bomb. I didn’t report him because I didn’t think he was intentionally throwing, just playing bad. But my team thought his actions classified as gameplay sabotage because he could have done this in quick play but decided to do it in comp and we were basically 5v6ing the whole time.
Can someone tell me what blizzard’s stance is on this? I know you think it’s ok and that’s fine, but blizzards opinion is really the only one that matters. Does blizzard see a report of this guy as a valid one?
Hearing <> communication (given how op was stated)
Console player here. Not communicating is not a (legally) reportable offense.
punishments are auto applied, no human intervention involved, based on number of reports. Reports are not generally investigated. So yes, you can have action taken against you for number of reports, regardless of whether those reports are legit or not
Again I would say that it’s a little in the gray area between playing poorly and game play sabotage.
I’d take it on a case by case basis and if you determine that it’s game play sabotage, then reporting would be fine.
Okay Einstein… I hear ya
no idea why I am Einstein…you have no real response so you settle for ad hominem instead?
What do you want me to respond with?
What exactly did you say to refute anything I said.
Just because he doesn’t have a Mic doesn’t mean he can’t hear his team. I never said anything about communicating. I obviously know they are different. And what the heck is <>?
I said one could report him. You said it’s not a reportable offence. Doesn’t mean they still can’t go and type ‘wasn’t communicating in team chat with teammates’ in the report box.
If communicating is not a reportable offence according to you then there’s no action to be taken against him. I’m not talking about reporting another case.
So tell me what exactly were you saying? You didn’t read to analyse and understand. You said rubbish and I replied with rubbish. It’s simple
