Can you please just rename Wrecking Ball?

Having his official name as Ball or Hamster would just be ridiculous (that would be like renaming McCree to Human). Hammond is ok but I think there are enough heroes named after their real name.

None of them are their real names, why should Wrecking ball have his real name?

When Hammond was released, Jeff told us we can call Wrecking Ball “Hammond” anytime we want.

I imagine there was a conflict with someone that may have some sort of “rights?!” with the name Hammond?

Most people say “Ball” from my experience which is fine – since his whole name is a mouthful in the heat of battle.

This is like asking Reinhardt to be renamed because most people call him out as “Rein” – kind of a silly request.

Yeah, the Mech itself is named Wrecking Ball, hamster is Hammond, because Hammond was using his mech as a disguise while battling in the Scrapyard, in Junkertown, for money to upgrade the mech.

IMO, “Wrecking Ball” didn’t really catch on because it’s just not a good name. I’m a bit of a writer myself, and I think names are really important - it’s not just what a name means, but also how it sounds. To my ears, “wrecking ball” just sounds really lame, as if the writers were either trying too hard or not trying hard enough to come up with it.

It’s fine as it is. Ball just personalize it. Like a nickname. Nicknames shouldn’t be the official name.

No body want them to officially change Doomfist to Doom nor DF. Same with Ball.

Why do people call Mercy, and not her real name then? You are basically saying the same thing there, but it doesnt apply to her then?
