Can you give me tips on ranking up

  • Check if you have a good team with teamwork, if so play to help your team. If not play a dive hero.
  • learn each hero strengths and weaknesses, and the most used setups (bunker, dive etc), Try to be able to play at least 1 of these heroes for each setup, preferable same role. But don’t play heroes you are not on your level yet.(practice)
  • learn about the basics… movement, taking positions/rotations, creating space, the fases of a team fight etc… (least important is your aiming skill, especially in lower ranks. You will to aim better just by playing a lot)
  • Play for win, but if this not possible (except this is like 40% of the games) , dont give up but play for best stats (MMR)
  • swap as less as possible during a match only if it is a must to win.
  • don’t play heroes you are to bad with, or dont know what their job is!! You will destroy your MMR. Look up with the normal average stats (like damage/10 minutes etc) is of players playing at the same rank with the same hero. Don’t play heroes you below those, check what you need to improve(very good kill/death ratio compared with others but damage is lower… probably you playing to carefully etc…) Best way to practice is another account (shame) , QP is a bad way to learn a hero. (learn how to play in team fights, you can learn the basics like abilities and maybe some aim on certain heroes in QP but the rest you cant. Most likely you will only learn bad habits. But QP is good for learning how you can play when you have a bad team with no team fights , so practice solo play with dive heroes. In low gold this will probably still be lots of games where you end up playing with none or almost none team fights or bad setups)

I played mainly Zen from gold to diamond. What I did was warmup in FFA, then 1 game in QP. In comp I tried to figure out who was the best player in our team (not highest SR, but who made the best played after the 1st fight) and tried to harmony orb them and discord thier target all game long.

Even if they aren’t the best, a harmony on dps and discord on thier target almost always wins a Teamfight at lower SR. Hit tanks until you have ULT, and see if the enemy have a big dps ult like genji blade, grav+dragon etc, and ALWAYS save your trans for that. If they have like Ashe and McCree, feel free to trans to initite, but you have to call it and make sure that atleast 3 people will press W.

Also, treat every loss as it’s YOUR fault. Did that genji kill you in overtime and then ulti your team. YOUR FAULT. (even though your Moira tried to Flank and kill a bastion, cuz you should have understood that a Moira in gold rank think she is a dps)

Tank main job is create space, especially on attack.

In gold you see many tanks(especially orisa’s) who are guarding a choke on attack… They are only guarding the space they already had. Nice your team can shoot at stuff behind a shield… But low health opponents just have to walk out of los and heal up… And your dps will probably get impatient and push through and getting killed without space you didn’t create.
Or like reins who stand with their shield up while the enemy rein is mowing around with his hammer through your team right behind him.
A rein who is smacking around both dps and healers etc with his hammer has created lots more space then a rein who just stands there with his shield up.

Always 1v6 when possible make sure you record for the kill montage and stay out of team chat. Oh and make sure to put gg ez at the start and end of each match! Good luck!

Solid logic. If enough people believe it then it must be true. Like the Earth being flat and falling off the edge right?

tank must defend his team

lololol

I wish more tanks knew this >.<

I played up to high gold at one point. The game was super boring. My advice is drop to silver like me and have fun. Fortunately Blizzard has provided many out of balance characters for you to try your hardest with and still drop so you can naturaly fall lower without breaking the rules

DO NOT PLAY TO CLIMB, PLAY TO IMPROVE

identify enemy mistakes and punish them, for example if the enemy rein charges right into your team, don’t panic, shoot him and tell everyone else to shoot him too. if he dies that’s already a won fight.

record yourself and identify your own mistakes, easiest way to do that is watch your every death and ask yourself, why did i die here.

usually the answer is i was alone against 2+ enemies, so that means you need to work better with your team and on your positioning, maybe you overextend a lot

if the answer is something like the enemy hit me before i could hit them, it’s your mechanics and positioning, you were somewhere were you were easy to hit, probably the enemy knew you were there before you knew they were etc.

stop playing when you lose more than 3 games in a row, and even if it’s just for 15 minutes

I soloqed my way out of gold

best way is just to grind out games - I was at 2000 to 2200 for the longest time (mostly because of computer issues) but after I ground out games and got to 2400, and it was easy to get to plat from there

Game yesterday… it happened twice in one match.
Was on attack blizzardworld last point.
I run from spawn to my group (so for i could really position myself behind the shield -> they didn’t wait) and i got hit by a hanzo arrow.
In replay i saw him aim at a team mate, the team mate moves away and i got headshot. 2 times in a row…

What did i do wrong? Except being very unlucky?
But i agree in most cases record and identify your own mistakes is the best way to improve your own gameplay.

not every death is a mistake, sometimes you did nothing wrong and die anyways

just play better 4head

If I remember right I think I was actually asking the OP but if you’d like help or a VOD review at some point I’d be willing to help, it would need to be set up on one of my days off but nobody should be stuck in sub 1000sr. If you’re truly interested in improving let me know. I’m no gm or masters player. I’m not a pro. I fluctuate between gold and platinum depending on what I play, but I know enough to help you improve enough to climb above 1000sr, heck maybe even to gold at least. If not goodluck.

watch pro streams, you really learn how to play a character:
how to position
how to engage each enemy
how to use your cooldown
how to use your ults
etc
