I’m not that surprised only because they like to release heroes on the safe side of strong. So, I assumed that if he wasn’t getting buffs they already considered him to be a strong pick.
I think the reason it might feel that way is his standard heal isn’t anything that impressive. He has to rely more on damage and his burst healing. But that burst healing is actually a lot.
So I think Wuyang has a much higher skill ceiling than either Moira or LW. Moira is low skill floor, low skill ceiling. LW is low skill floor but high skill ceiling. Though his skill isn’t mechanical skill so much as out thinking your oponent. Wuyang though does have some mechanics involved that I think makes him higher skill.
If his damage it what makes him fun he can lose a large amount of healing to be on par with zen and Lucio instead.
He doesn’t get to do Zens damage and have his healing orb and have mercy’s healing on a resource and have Ana’s nade but better for healing and have mobility. He has to have a weakness. It SHOULD be his damage, but if it won’t be, it should be his healing. Nerf his healing stream and his wave. Or remove his heal amp entirely and that should do the job.
His escape is better then soj imo, she just slides away for 1sec in a straight line you can intercept. Wuyang slides around and changes direction at will. Then when you get close he hits you with the wave to create some distance and gets enough hp to for another torrent. Feels like a real grind to kill him compared to other supporrts.
Whatever, man… go play some tank just to get speared, slept, frozen, displaced and/or hindered (freja), and if you survive all that, get booped.
Sounds reduced to me… not like in ow 1 where you would get displaced by orisa’s halt, hit by accretion, frozen, slept, stunned by shield bash and stunned again by flash… oh, wait. It really sounds reduced… by 1…
I do play tank, almost exclusively, it’s really not that bad. The worst CC in the game is Ana because she’s the only non-tank that just flat out starts with a stun.
I worded that wrong. I was trying to say I’m not comparing them game play or skill-wise at all. Only that there’s not a lot to his kit. My wording made it sound like I was comparing skill, that was a mistake, sorry.
Usually when there’s a very minimal kit, the hero struggles with buffs/nerfs and are usually not the best pick, like Hog, LW, Mercy, Moira, Illari, etc due to very basic kits with minimal or bad utility. That’s what I was trying to compare. oops. Wuyang’s kit is minimal but still powerful, and that’s usually not the case.
How does his kit have minimal or bad utility? Great movement to keep up with dive, powerful cd that can either burst heal your allies from certain deaths or stop enemies. Passive zen like heal, no aim mercy heal, great ult that is either a 1v1 i win button or a team fight winning ult on a tank.
And damage that can be spammed without los. Had a game yesterday with wuyang on my team, payload had just rolled through the first gate and i was diving and pinging enemies at the second point. He was getting elims from across the map while driving payload. Sure he wouldn’t have gotten any elims himself but neither would i. I think he is up there with ana and kiri as far as utility goes.
Basically where the skill floor is at : managing both. It takes practice.
but it requires proximity to be able to boost the beam. It doesn’t require line of sight only (like Zen does).
Concussion mine is way easier to hit a target with, though (it doesn’t need to be charged by reaching a certain distance, and it’s faster to take an enemy out with).
That’s what I love the most about both heroes => mobility and killing / healing players at the same time.
'Cause a 9-year old game still oughta have some fun, no… ?
More and more playing with Wuyang, and more and more players are getting used to him, and yeah, I’m finding it harder and harder to keep players up with him as his focus healing doesn’t last too long, and while you can get perks to extend the focus healing by two seconds, it still doesn’t feel like its enough.
And that feels like a good weakness, and it might be too strong.
Same range as the others mentioned. Sigma technically has the smallest falloff splash range.
This is typical for Supports.
Kiriko’s projectiles, Lucio’s projectiles are both twice the size of Genji’s shuriken.
No, it’s still true that the Damage-role is still heavily specialized and limited to what they can do (see Freja being vulnerable to dive and heroes with self-phasing/clears). It’s just Tanks and Supports, in general, are designed to be more generalized and lacking specific weaknesses.
There’s a possibility that he’s being played a lot against teams that aren’t Dive/flanker-oriented; which is where his biggest weaknesses lie. He powers up flankers really well, but struggles against flankers like Tracer, Reaper, and Venture. He can’t reactively defend against Pulse Bomb, for example.
Yeah, 100 healing per second for 3 seconds. Basically Illari’s, but without the aiming component to keep it “honest”.
Still fairly easy for a Support. Illari feels a little harder to play than him.
Damage is also really slow from a distance. He can’t win against attentive supports, and reallly can only follow-up or soften up a target for kills. CQC he struggles with, his mobility will give him some breathing space, but won’t compete against Tracer, or Reaper.
He doesn’t do Zenyatta’s damage; but it does lean on the stronger side compared to other Supports. He compares pretty well above Illari, but still below Baptiste.
Self-healing is on a 12 second cooldown, and isn’t as high as other self-healing Supports. Perking it, does give it a better edge, though.
I think they should make it 90dmg and not 100 but make his non charged orb do 30 or 40 dmg instead of 20. I have no idea why they thought making a primary fire do less damage than a literal melee was a smart choice and then have it ramp up so high just by holding it down - bro has more potential damage than Sym.
I’ve been using him and I absolutely love the character but I do think that if he gets a damage nerf(I think is fair enough since I just wanna heal and CC with him) then there are other supports who could use a good damage nerf to.
