And there is so much ranged spam damage in the game with Ashe/Widow/Mcree that it just feels like you’re constantly being bombarded from all directions.

Especially now that barriers are like tissue paper, and we have literally zero abilities that will instantly return you from death save Mercy’s single man res, which will never turn the tide of battle that strongly.

Back when the game launched, if you had a Symmetra or a Mercy you could set up avenues for players to be ‘returned’ to the field faster with your ultimates, which meant that even if you did have losses they could be, in a special way, countered. Now? Now you’re just dead. Dying is so much more ‘permanent’ now, and everyone is adjusted to it because the changes happened ages ago I know, but honestly I think about this and how it impacts the pacing of the battles a LOT.

These days, Dying is so much more of a punishment than it used to be. So making characters more lethal makes them incredibly punishing, but if they’re not lethal, the players will complain about it.

It’s almost like we need counters to lethal events, but apparently it’s ‘not fair’ … somehow.

I’d argue the lack of Dive meta allows the snipers to sit back and take potshots while unchallenged by death from anything besides other snipers.
