Actions speak louder than words. I’ve yet to see roadmaps that did much to actually silence complaints.
they kinda did it again with mauga and releasing sigma instead. Sigma wasn’t even intended, its just that the abilities worked better for him than Mauga lol
Never forget, even Bioware made roadmaps for Anthem
(even though they couldn’t keep up with it, at least they showed us their plans)
For real though a “road” map set on the las vegas strip ![]()
Which stands as a testament for why roadmaps ultimately hurt a game’s development more than help it. Any delays in your game’s development immediately lead to disappointment when you inevitably miss a deadline.
I think they help a game in most cases. It’s better than radio silence. Even if the roadmap is ultra vague.
Look at Borderlands 3, their current roadmap is just “DLC3 this summer” with cowboys and dinosaurs as the only thing we know about it.
That’s amazing and makes me look forward to it. I’d rather have that than nothing
Well, Overwatch’s current roadmap is OW2. If there was literally no sign of upcoming content, I’d agree with you, but we know for a fact that we’re getting a sequel and we know some of its biggest features.
You’d hate me then! Hehe!
Here’s your roadmap for the year.
May:
June:
July:
August:
September:
October:
November:OW2 teaser update for February 2020 release
December: OW2 will be delayed as a issue arises.
not much will happen until OW2 so either take a break until that comes out or just coast along
Roadmaps? The thing that, in any live game, 10% of players thank you and 90% of players flame you for writing, whether based on what made the list, what didn’t make the list, or even the tone in which it was listed?
Also, didn’t we get one, roughly speaking, just a few months ago? How about letting them release news when they have it rather than insisting on Letters from the Developers every couple months where we just get more mad because the things we were told last month would take a several months to complete still aren’t here yet?
In general, I like transparency, but… I don’t see how the team’s been particularly opaque with us. Heck, take Hero Bans, for instance. They said from the start that it was a risky venture and might not work. I’ll get pissed when I see from either statistics or overwhelming anecdotal evidence that it clearly has not been working and they pass it off as if it has. That’d be disingenuous.
Granted, then, so too would any roadmap likely be…
Here is the roadmap -
2021 - Overwatch 2.
2026 - Overwatch 3.
Or make Devstreams, They can actually show how they are progressing and interact with their community.
There is a road map.
Fast and aggressive balance changes targeting the meta -> OW2
That is it.
I legit want an update on open queue and hero bans, though.
Well season ends next week and it’s too late for a heads up now, so we can assume safely that OQ is gone and Pools are staying.
Well… I live dangerously. I will be pretty mad if bans stay, though, not going to lie. It would be wise to start expecting that, but clearly I want to get mad. Your move, Blizzaro.
good idea and we need to see the future of overwatch
Nah, I like being surprised more than being disappointed.
Roadmaps only make it harder for developers to change things they have once decided upon, for better or for worse. I want the developers to have every freedom they need to make the best game they can.
I dunno, it might help them read the room better so we don’t get another Echo.
Leaving them to exist in a bubble has led to some questionable decisions.
