no reason for it, game knows i just disconnected from the server
The thing is, it doesn’t. It can’t tell the difference between you having legitimate internet problems and you pulling the plug on your modem. If people found out that they can leave games without penalty just by faking a connection problem, people would just leave with impunity.
Accidents occur, that’s why one game isn’t enough for a full suspension. But if your connection is so unstable that you’re consistently getting booted from games, you’re still being disruptive and hurting your team’s chance at success. That’s on you to resolve those consistent issues.
i second this motion . the game crashes have cost me quite a few rewards from the anima strike event
Even if it could tell, people will then abuse that to leave matches. That’s why they’re not implementing that and shouldn’t
yes there is every reason for it
i could honestly care less about my random quickplay team when i disconnect with 10 seconds left in the game cause my internet decides to dc
Your internet issues is not the other players problem, so it is not fair on them.
Can you not play team dependent games when you’re aware of your internet connection issues?
No reason for it, you know you’ll just disconnect from the server jeopardizing your own team
honestly I’ve never disconnected really but I do wish it would implement a connection like league where it waits until EVERYONE is fully loaded into the lobby to start the match
Im onboard with the agreement that we need Career mode and NON career mode.
Before Quickplay was moved to a Career mode it was pretty fun tbh. I enjoyed doing things like overclocking my PC and not worrying about crashes, it was fun pushing overwatch to its limits.
It was also fun toting this game around on a laptop and playing it Clear up in the middle of nowhere at some strange motel out in the countryside in a small town while waiting for my bees to finish up capping honey, and then getting ready to move them. Hey, it was okay. play Overwatch its a fun for everyone game. If the hotels’ wifi randomly crashed, back to the restart of a Q after the game reloads!
Today’s environment is just so overly strict and limiting to what audiences they want to allow into the game. It doesn’t give us a way to ramp up our practice skills in QP on our watch anymore, and it really shows that they have supressed the casual audience because battlepasses aren’t meeting their expectated quotas to shareholders at “The parent company’s public reports”.
I mean with how they treat us casuals anymore, (as criminals) I sure dont think I would give them money ever again for a battlepass and for my holiday merch purchases of their licensed gamer products, i really dont feel welcome much here anymore.
I think that just reflects reading what people have to say here and everywhere else. That the one-directional shift of being a game for Career gamers only is the core cause of our limited events, miniscule battlepasses, the lack of map creation and content creation for the game.
What concerns me even more is; the next round of layoffs means they eventually will start removing talent from this IP if they dont start removing the game’s constrictions on a mode where everyone use to be welcome to play in it.
Quick play gives you less penalty per 10 matches than competitive. So if you’re getting high enough suspension time then you must have dc frequently in which what do you expect? You don’t care about quick play matches but why should we care about your suspension? And again, it’s not good practice to let you unplug your WiFi whenever your quick play teammates doesn’t meet your standards. I think it’s deserved.
They should really remove the penalty in QP. All the responses to this thread in disagreement, were the responses people used to give in Competitive, and told people to go play QP, because there wasn’t a penalty then… Now people are just telling people not to play the game???.. Anyone at any time could be plagued with an unstable ISP, it’s random, unexpected, and just when you think it’s resolved, SURPRISE!.. Initially that’s the reason I stopped playing Competitive and went over to QP.. THEN I discover they added the penalty to QP.. THEN I start getting a season 3 bug/error caused by their season 3 patch where the game just closes, and despite all the workarounds for it, the bug they caused persists… For reasons like this bug issue that many users are actually currently experiencing, they should remove the penalty from QP.
I certainly DO remember that conversation from Overwatch Forums 1.0 and that was the big thing.
Im going to have to visit Wayback machine and see if any of its still up.
You do what?
Because of what?
Common sense. The game detects inputs. Obviously.
If the game was detecting inputs up until the disconnect happened, then you treat it as an internet or server issue, or a crash.
If the game stops detecting inputs at all and then you disconnect before the kick timer would have kicked you, it was clearly intentional.
I’m 100% sure they could implement SOMETHING to tell the difference.
And yeah like sure you could yell at someone in your room to do it for you or mash buttons as you get up to turn your ps5 off, but at that stage you’re probably just done with the game anyway if you’re THAT angry at the game.
Any system can be abused. If there was a way to avoid penalties, people would figure out how to do it.
And either way, consistent connectivity issues are still the responsibility of the player. It’s disruptive to the nine other people in the server. Even if you have legitimate internet issues, you should still be penalized for that disruption.
In Competitive, sure. Not in Quick Play where there is backfill.
It’s still disruptive. Your team is down a player for a significant amount of time and all ult charge the person had is gone when they left.
An occasional disconnect is fine, and doesn’t get penalized very heavily. If it’s happening consistently, then the penalties ramp up, and that’s appropriate. They’re consistently impacting other’s game negatively.
If your internet sucks, don’t play internet games.
A significant amount of time sometimes, for me its 95% of the time I get a new teammate basically immediately after the other one left. The ultimate one is unfortunate, but not awful.
There are many reasons a user may be leaving a match consistently, and its not always internet related. I’m not sure if you’ve ever dealt with your ISP suddenly not being reliable, but its not as simple as losing connection a couple times and the next day knowing fully well how your ISP is going to behave that day. Its frustrating and even if it becomes a consistent problem, it can still be unpredictable, or even a seasonal issue.
Then there are the many other reasons a user may disconnect/leave a match listed above.
And I am sorry but “iF YoUR iNtErNEt SuCKs….” just stop. That comes across as super naive.
There are many reasons, but the nuts and bolts of it is that if you are unable to complete matches you start consistently, other people shouldn’t be forced to play with you. It has a negative impact on the experience of everybody else who logged in to play.
The reason doesn’t matter. You are responsible for your time management, emotional outbursts, and your internet connection. It’s perfectly appropriate for somebody who cannot complete games consistently to be asked to sit out for a while.
