Can we nerf Hog back into irrelevancy?

Yeah…no.

Never peek isn’t counterplay.

A good Hog can kill you before you fade. It’s not particularly hard to one shot with him.

If it was a longer period of time before he could hook, this would be a viable strategy. But he can trap and instantly hook, so most heroes just can’t break the trap in time.

Hog shouldn’t have a one shot. Not with his survivability. Even if it isn’t broken, it’s oppressive and just badly designed.

Where did you get never peek?

Not sure what your talking about. Hook + primary is 165dmg. If you die to Hog on Moira with your fade up… That would be a skill issue, specifically a reaction time diff. I guess in some cases a latency issue. Having to walk forward to secure the melee is plenty of time to press a button.

This is called game sense. And if you can’t be bothered to use it, you can try to diff the Hog with movement & force missed hooks/shots. Not to mention there are multiple heroes in the tank/support role that can bail you out of hooks.

And I’m curious about this 1 shot your referring to. Last one shot I remember having on Hog was with his old secondary fire on a tracer.

People who say “jUsT dOnT bE iN hIs 20m rAnGE” like what do they expect? everyone to just leave point alone?

Pretending Hog isnt already irrelevant.

Bro is literally an Off Tank in a Main Tank’s world.

One little Ana and the guy cant play without Kirko, not to mention next patch with the DPS passive is gonna HURT for all the off tanks, especially ones with an overreliance on self healing like Hog and Mauga.

Thats the problem, you forcefully need an Ana otherwise he is unstopable, basically bad design just as mauga

That part youre right on. Its completely true that 5v5 ruins a litany of characters like Hog and Mauga

Honestly, I think the root cause for Hog being in the state he is in rn is due to 5v5.

People say that no hero was ever designed for 5v5 or 6v6, they would just happen to have strengths and weaknesses that the other player in that role could capitalize or make up for. I would say that they are right, but some of the designs just make you ask that question. Wrecking Ball, a tank that perfectly encapsulates what an “off tank” should be, but ball is not in a very good state at all in OW2, due to the format switch.

Hog is sort of in the same boat. If I am being 100% honest, I lied about the rework not being bad, I DESPISE playing as or against Hog. He needed the rework though, in order to function as an actual sponge for the insane amount of damage that he can’t mitigate other than his damage reduction.

Having another tank, mainly a shield tank, could drastically change how Hog could be played. Hog could take more aggressive angles with a second tank. I hate how they did the heal though, since a tank like Rein, just CAN’T do damage unless you charge/shatter him in the middle of the breather, same thing for a tank like Winston or Ball.

They will be forced to rework the entire tank roster to fit into the 5v5 format, and all of the new tanks will have an ability like shout or nemesis form, where you get close to killing them, but then they press a button and don’t die. They really need something like season 9, which thankfully is in a day or two, since everything about the tank role currently (and maybe even in season 9 with the dps passive) is absolutely miserable. I have personally seen COUNTLESS players say that tank makes them upset/sad when they play it, the reason we went to 5v5 in the first place was most likely queue times, since nobody was playing tank in some elo ranges back in 6v6, but if the tank player base is getting to the point that is was at near the end of OW1, you know that it’s bad.

Sorry for the essay lol, kinda got carried away. I just think 6v6 was more balanced and enjoyable when I played it, and I have played OW2 almost daily since launch, minus a few week or so breaks, and the tank role was not as miserable as it is in this game, mostly because of counter picking, and Hog.

they wont just liekt hey wont nerf rammatra or 76

Mauga really felt like a good alternative to dealing with Orisa than just “pick Russian weightlifter with faux Godzilla beam”. Considering how much of a nuisance she is to every tank, it was fun while it lasted shooting the horse to scrap.

Bold of you to even assume I’m lying

Horrible takes. And this guy has the audacity to say my take on mauga needing to ignore orisas fortify is silly…her 1 and only bad matchup…this guy was dropped on his head as an infant

If one hero is destroying your ability to have fun…

Are you telling me you’re actually this delusional? :skull:

New DPS passive will do that

He can’t one shot combo next patch and he will have a perma -20% heal reduction :fire: (Thank the lord)

I’m expecting Hog and Mauga to be crap next season so as a support player who hates playing with them I am ecstatic to say the least.

Which relies on them being able to… Self sustain. So…

Is hilarious coming from you.

Let’s wait a week and then decide who needs a quick kick in the Discord Orbs. It’s too early to call anything because the biggest shakeup in OW history is coming in 2 days.

I’d disagree. Personally, I think regardless of the game being 5v5 or 6v6, Hog just isn’t well designed. The switch to 5v5 didn’t help, but it isn’t like he didn’t suck the fun out of the game during 6v6 to begin with.

His rework was the chance to correct that, but it shored up his weaknesses while not doing anything about him being borderline oppressive when he’s in a good spot.

I think a lot of people just don’t like how threat tanks work. Hog is supposed to be “Oppressive” when he’s being played well and supported. You are supposed to be afraid to be in his LOS. That’s how he does his job.

He’s a bit long lived right now maybe, but for a very long time they took away what made him work and he just … sucked.
