We don’t need a hero based off a real religion. Zenyatta follows a made up religion
Having a belief and going to a Church for that belief every Sunday are two different things. I would go to a church specifically for that religion.
As a Christian … I kinda don’t want them to open this can of worms.
I do like the idea of religious heroes - as in they rely on faith and have unshakable values - but we already have a few of those with the Iris and such, so that’s cool.
Nothing needs to be confirmed. I honestly believe it’s the same with sexual orientation and other things (though Blizz already went there). This type of stuff is best left to speculation.
Like I personally think Reinhardt is Christian. I don’t need an “official” confirmation on that to be content.
As fascinating as I find religion, let’s keep our vague references to it instead of outright depiction. I don’t want anti-religious people upset by its inclusion, nor do I want religious people offended by an inevitablely inaccurate portrayal.
Besides that, I think Mercy is a very vague reference with her pascifist, resurrecting, angel aesthetic.

How does a religion that believes God created men appeal to omnics that are arguably lives created by human?
Christianity is boring. There are way more interesting religions out there.
You’ve got Reinhardt and Brigitte, they’re basically crusaders.
We already have social matters creeping into the game. Let’s not bring religion into it, either.
I’m not against religion or being gay, but I don’t want to have them define who the character is.
Wanna say that Torbjorn is Christian? Fine, but don’t dive deep into it. Same thing with Traver being gay. It’s awesome that their poster girl is gay showing that yeah, their most well known character is gay, but they didn’t dive into it. Just “Tracer has a girlfriend” and done. Nothing more to it.
Existential beta testing?
Aren’t they all? Kappa
Yeah, I agree there.
Blizzard adding something religious is not only dangerous for the company, but it also puts even more bad mojo around that religion, specifically in this case, Christianity.
In the end, I think we can safely assume this would never happen regardless.
Is such a thing compatible with Omnic nature? As far as we know they’re constructed by some means, and their advanced AI has basically made them sentient, and on the whole the more spiritually-minded of them seem to think that this creation process is something they can tap into in order to achieve some sort of metaphysical oneness. That’s what the whole Iris thing is all about.
An omnic would seem to be a weird fit for a Christianized hero.

I don’t know about that, Mei is currently running around 1% pick rate, that isn’t through the roof.
Depends on whose roof…
I guess the answer is NO then.
