Technically, 1-2-2 can be more barrier heavy than 2-2-2 if they balanced the game to be that way. This whole âdouble barrier was bad because you were endlessly shooting barriersâ excuse to support 5v5 is just bad because balance is what causes barriers to endlessly be up, not whether there are 1 or 2 tanks on the team. 5v5 can be balanced to be a slower game than 6v6 was, it just depends what pace the devs want the game to play at.
Also, I think them reducing CC like they did for OW2 would have made the tank role more fun to play for 2-2-2. As a concept itself, 2-2-2 is funner than 1-2-2.

Honestly with every match being decided by tanks this gameâs sufferbus mode has grown exponentially. There is less carry potential than ever before, and it feels miserable when itâs not going well.
Their entire focus since the launch of OW2 is fixing queue times, and they have butchered the gameâs quality to get there. I donât know if 6v6 is the solution, but 5v5 ainât it either.

I like how people that say 6v6 was better give a load of reasons as to why, but people that say 5v5 is better give nothing.
Most I have ever heard as a reason for 5v5 being better is âNo double shieldâ. Thatâs it.
Obviously if they went back they would nerf the health to what it used to be.
For the umpteenth thousandth time, they could have addressed double shield without removing an entire player from each team. They chose the nuclear solution. The worst solution that should have never come across anyoneâs mind even once.

double shield can simply implement 1 off tank + main tank role within tank, you canât play 2 main tank which solve the problem
This is the worst solution Iâve seen to this issue ever. You want to split tanks into 2 queues? Have 4 instead of 3? Is that your grand solution for low players? Or do you want to make it so if one player picks main tank then the other has to pick an off tank? What if someone is exclusively a main tank player but it just so happens that the other tank loads into the game faster and steals the role? Terrible solution to a non existent problem.

Tanks like Ball and Doom are permanently forced into a balance of either being dumpster tier or God tier. There is literally no in-between, they cannot ever be correctly balanced.
Junker Queen will never be a viable solo tank.
Orisa has become Brig 1.0 tank edition and has had all skill removed from her kit and has been turned from an anchor shield tank into an overglorified DPS.
Ana and Kiriko will permanently dominate the support meta because they are the best at enabling a singular tank.
Hog as he is now will never be viable again outside of slowing down the currently God-tier Ball.
Open queue balancing is a joke.
5v5 can stay as its own separate mode, Blizzard has no legitimate reason to not reintroduce 6v6 seeing as how theyâre completely fine with separate balancing for separate modes. The only reason they have for not reintroducing it is fear of splitting the playerbase, which you, I, Blizzard and everyone else know will happen for a fact. Blizzard knows full well that most if not half of the playerbase do not like 5v5 in the slightest.

Look at the balance of 6v6 tank was misrable to play for years i think most people have rose tinted glasses on for 6v6 and dont remember the majority of the problems.
The tanks all had their individual roles and purposes and fulfilled them. Donât act as if one team was missing a tank.
Doom and Ball are forced into permanent OP/UP oblivion, Hog is worthless, Junker Queen is worthless, Orisa has become Brig 1.0, Zarya struggles without another tank, tank enablers are the permanent meta.
