It’s been a year almost and there is no mention, several months ago some old devs says that they fear it con cancelled, can we get actual confirmation from the devs or is it still in the pipeline? I would love to know how the story ends/continues.

I don’t think they can ever officially say it, because lots of the promises on OW2’s launch were based on the PvE that they knew in the background was already dead. So if it’s never offically canned, those were never truly a lie.
Microsoft did 1900 layoffs, most affected was blizzard. Entire PVE team was fired. Now with extra 650 layoffs plus again most affected was blizazrd. Do the math. Its sad because there several PVE missions that was in “playable” phase (iirc the continuation of suravasa when you encounter talon)

Most likely this, I know nothing of the legal side of things, but the claim to make Overwatch 2 was stated by someone on the dev team (can’t remember for the life of me) was to make OW2 the campaign side of things and OW1 was the MP side of things.
I vividly remember someone saying they were going to bridge the two so that people who played OW1 could still access the new heroes, maps, and modes, while others could just enjoy the campaign in 2.
If there is any legal strings attached, openly admitting that they canceled the reason for even making the game, would likely cut that string and open a huge legal mess. But again, I don’t know how legal things work, could just be talking out my cheeks for all I know.
Concord is getting reworked, almost certainly into something akin to f2p if not outright f2p.
PVE is just dead.
I thought they confirmed it… like awhile ago and said it had been canceled even before ow2 was fully released.
I doubt sony is going to go through with a rework after how bad it was received

microsoft is sitll in a ton of legal trouble over it and i beleive that investigation into them is still ongoing hopefully the government shows them they cant get away with things

- Oct 2022: OW2 launch
- Dec 2022: Hero mission portion of the PVE scrapped internally
- May 2023: Hero mission cancellation announced, story missions release date revealed
- Aug 2023: First batch of story missions releases
- Jan 2024: Microsoft merger occurs, vast majority of the PVE team gets laid off
Not quite. OW2 was always talked about as a PVP + PVE package.
Yeah no, that was misinformation from the community who misinterpreted a quote from Aaron about them changing their direction with OW2, which was referring to them splitting the PVP and PVE releases.
Can anyone from the OW team can confirm or at least say something?
I been trying to play the missions I paid for and never goes into a game either
