Can the devs just stop abusing Ana?

Why do people keep saying ‘We gotta stop nerfing high skill characters’ when most of the problems with Ana is that she can be more useful than most supports even if you’re bad at her because she’s so strong. A ‘high skill character’ should be almost useless when you’re bad at them but the strongest character if you’re great at them. Ana is both the strongest character when you’re bad AND good.

If they really want to start making her a high skill character they need to significantly nerf the healing hitbox, its so big that Kiriko’s futa’s are harder to land than that thing.

Do you remember when they nerfed the damage to 60? She was almost not played for the entire duration until they buffed it back.

Couldn’t a reason for her popularity simply be that she is FUN to play? Unlike the rest of the braindead and skillless (save Baptiste) support roster?

Her skill floor is not as high as people would have you believe. And you are right that is kind of the problem, she’s just “good” in every situation if you’re ok mechanically with her. The amount of hours you have to spend to get “ok” mechanically with her isn’t all that much for a “skilled” hero.

Let’s be honest how many hours does it take somebody to figure out to sit in the back of the fight, pump your tank full of healing and throw anti at the enemy tank?

Hot take here but I believe Brig has a higher skill floor than Ana with a much lower skill ceiling obviously.

Ana need to be nerfed to the ground. she has a very very very high pickrate. she’s almost in everygame. she counters almost everytank. i’m so glad they nerfed her.

Ana is legit the ONLY support that hasn’t been nerfed to sucking and then required to be buffed back up.

Ana gets more buffs than nerfs period.

ana’s in more games than zen and ana.

nade is more powerful than amp.

incorrect.
moth meta lasted 3 months top.
then she was nerfed to the worst support until they gave her 5 hp/s back after a legit 1 1/2 yrs.

& that lasted about a yr or 2.

both mercy and brig got crippled after hteir nerfs.

ANa’s nade has been issue for literally yrs nad they refuse to nerf her properly.

yet you claim ana’s constantly getting nerfs? She’s the #1 support going on 3 1/2 yrs and even before that she was A tier yrs before that time.

Ana has NEVER been bad (outside of the dive meta but that was not long nor was it do-able at all ranks & she “could” work in them just not optimally)

Anyone who actually thinks Ana is “fine” or thinks she gets nerfed too much…needs a cold shower and a reality check.

losing 40 hp on nade is barely going to do anything and she wont drop from being the best support by a mile becasue her healing has NEVER been her issue.

its antri heal part that devs wont touch that makes her so strong a pick. it literally negates an entire role and thus breaks game as games balanced around healing beign a thing.

Good. Ana keeps half of the roster hostage by how overloaded and powercrept her abilities are.

So, her kit mechanics and playstyle stayed EXACTLY the same, but players stopped playing her… when she wasnt as strong? So her overall strength is a part of the “fun” players have while playing her?

You sure this is the argument you want to go with? Because “Shes played so often because she so strong” is just down the street with this argument

I get that Ana has been strong for a very long time, even when she wasn’t meta (or at least wasn’t dictating meta). And as much as I hate to see it, a nerf is justified.

But people calling Ana low skill, god damn. This new copium derivative is doing a number on the population.

She gets a lot of value, and she can do it safely, but people that acting like Ana just exists and the tank falls over and turns purple need to stop basing their balance opinions off Arcade.

Her healing is definitely easier than people try to claim due to the enlarged hitbox, and the sleep dart is twice the size of a Hanzo “log.” Supposedly, that’s somewhat negated by it’s slow projectile speed, but in reality a lot of Ana players aren’t skill sleeping diving Genji or Tracers, they’re yeeting it practically on cooldown against tanks within 30 yards of them.

Not gonna sit here and pretend shooting a Sigma shield is the epitome of skill, either. Won’t even mention the AoE nade that she can just chuck on the ground in an area nearby if she sucks at aim.

This is the ana change I want to see:

Revert sleep dart cool down from 14 to 12 seconds.

Keep the 3.5 second sleep dart duration on tanks. But also give them an ability to be immune to sleep dart when they use one of their cool-down based ability. For example:

  • Not sure if it’s a thing already, but orisa should be immune to sleep dart during fortify.
  • Ramattra should be immune to sleep dart during block form. But not anti-heal, since he already blocks way too much damage (75%).
  • Reinhardt should be immune to sleep dart during earth shatter (but not before the animation starts).
  • Wrecking ball should be immune to sleep dart during adaptive shield (or at least for the first 3.5 seconds).
  • Doomfist should be immune to sleep dart during power block.
  • Junker Queen should be immune to sleep dart during commanding shout and rampage.

Balancing around pick rates is more than a flawed approach.

Now that I think about it… if that’s what they’re doing I’m not surprised balance is usually bad in Overwatch.

I do enjoy my whole kit being mechanically rewarding, though. I assume that’s the main draw for most people who main Ana. At least it’s the reason I switched from being a Moira main to an Ana main.

The funny thing is they’re probably already on the latest patch considering they’re also playing brig which had a bug with her ult

Throws nade on the ground, heals herself, disables the enemy

  • “Damn, the game punishes for throwing a cooldown on the ground, without any aim required and while healing myself I also JQ ult the one who dives me, all of this while being a constant cancer at long range and pretty much securing a kill with almost every nade landed and with every sleep dart landed, while not being realistically punished for missing those and despite missing my whole kit, that’s still not even half of my value because I can heal as well”

ana is low skill like the whole support roster my dude . it’s not anything special playing ana well. the average 10 year old on COD is exerting more skill than an ana player tbh

Game has been notably worse since Ana’s inception.
Every. Single. OW2 game I played last season had Ana. When a hero has a 100% pickrate they need a nerf.

The difference is Junk was as off meta as it’s possible to get with almost no viability in top ranks whereas Ana is the hardest meta hero in the entire game.

I swear the victim complex a lot of support mains have is crazy.

I mained Junk for 2k hours. I mained Ana this season and found myself getting significantly more value than on Junk. It’s easier to climb with Ana, she’s not difficult below gm and she needed the nerf.
