Can i be banned for one tricking in ow2 in 2023

In Overwatch 2, one-tricking refers to playing only one hero.
all i wanna know is can one still get banned in 2023 for one tricking

thank you and have a good day

You can get banned for anything you people report you enough times.

Yup.
There are plenty of people who will report you for “game disruption” for not switching to the character they think you should.

Even though not switching is literally one of the reasons not to report.

So they’ll say - “Well it’s not listed anymore, so that means I don’t have to follow it”

You can get banned for anything. The difference is if you can play the hero you’re trying to one trick and actually contribute to team fights.

so ow2 is basically a game of try not to get banned lol

Sort of but if a lot of people are reporting you, there is probably a reason why.

If you are still useful for the team while onetricking they won’t have reason to be reporting you.

As a former one trick, as long as you’re useful you have nothing to worry about. The only time you’ll get reported is if you’re bad at your one trick, which doesn’t really happen unless the character is Doom for some reason.

The perception of being bad is what’s more important.

Well, the perception tends to be right if you aren’t a Support main. Chances are if your team is talking crap about a DPS or Tank, they’re right. A good one trick will wreck the entire lobby until they get countered. No one’s gonna perceive that as bad.

Idk man, the average player’s perception in this game is very questionable; The forums support that too.

One trick a meta hero and nobody cares. One trick a hammer only wielding Torb and everyone loses their mind!!!

Of course. The report system is automated and has no checks for validity. If enough people report you then you get suspended.

“Can” you be? Technically- yes.

Should you be, no.

One tricking isn’t against the rules- but players will false report you if they think you’re why they are losing.

I onetricked dva during DOUBLESHIELD in OW1 and got to diamond. I never got banned. I pretty much onetricked junkerqueen to diamond before her buffs. Again, did not get banned.

Just play your heart out and you should be fine.

first two years of overwatch i one tricked widowmaker a ton but back then i think maybe they actually looked at reports. i do wonder now if everything is fully automated

This is so naive. Often you’ll get reported if you 1 trick an off meta hero regardless of your performance. Scapegoating doesn’t take reality into account.

Example: I’ve had matches where I was by far the top performer yet had some players start blaming me instead of the players going negative etc. It even going as far as the other team defending me. It’s stupid but it’s a thing.

To answer the OP though it’s not against any rules but you will get reported. However actual bans from it seem to be significantly less common since the mass 1 trick ban days in OW1.

well if you mean is it against the rules too one trick? no its technically not

but

if you are talking literal, can you get banned?, yes you can. the report system is automated and people tend to report one tricks that arnt performing in a game.

You can get banned by anyone if they get enough people to join in. Also Blizzard isn’t checking chats. I’ve reported multiple people for posting the N word and other slurs at specific players, and I never get a message saying it has been addressed.

The one true meta.

You can be banned for it but not permanently you can be mass reporting but it shouldn’t be that way
