Match ranges are being incorrectly calculated, since they do not take into account the last known rank of a rankless player (someone who is doing placement matches).
Match balance is being completely broken by Master and grandmaster players doing placements and being placed in gold and plat matches. I’ve noticed this many times now, the latest example was a match I played about an hour ago where the match range was reported as Plat 4 - Plat 3.
One player seemed to be playing exceedingly well, and upon checking his profile (looking at the appropriate role) I found he had no rank for the current season but was a masters players in previous seasons, having finished last season as masters 5 with a season high of masters 4. Again this player was playing this same role in a Plat 4-Plat 3 match.
his is a serious problem in the system that ends up encouraging smurfing accounts, when it should be doing exactly the opposite, since (in my personal experience) this is a practice that destroys the playerbase - most people I know that left overwatch over time quoted smurfs as the main factor.
