Like sorry that i like other characters besides Genji? i do play Genji a little bit but i don’t consider myself a full on Genji player, Everybody has a opinion, and from my point of view, as someone who plays Ball and Mercy the most, i just don’t see the point in it because it would just contribute to his spammy playstyle, and nobody likes to just sit there and spam down a choke.
This is the millionth time I’ve posted this but how does this sound?
- Deflect cancel removed and back to 1.5 seconds
- Spread back changed from 9 to 10.5
- Dragonblade no longer damage boostable
- Dragonblade ultimate cost increased by 20% or 30%
- Right click recovery time back from 0.75 to 0.65
- Shuriken Damage back from 28 to 30
- Primary fire recovery lowered from 0.95 to 0.85
That’s fine, i can agree with that change, Deflect cancel is really annoying to try and predict, that’s the only problem i have with it.
Not really positive if this change will make much impact if it were to be implemented.
This is a bit confusing, are you talking about Mercy’s DB? or Ana’s Nano? because i don’t see Mercy Damage Boosting a blading Genji a lot.
I’d say leave it at 25%, increasing ultimate cost would just make it more niche to use.
Fine with this change.
Eh… i’m not for a Damage change, but if ult gain decrease gets added in then i can see why i guess.
Still abit iffy on primary fire recovery changes, but again, if secondary fire gets changed then i can see why.
Ana and mercy’s damage boost would no longer work, zen’s will though. This is to combat nano blade as nano blade currently holds the rest of his kit hostage.
If that were to be implemented then, he would need some kind of change to be more solo than relying on Ana.
That’s why I buffed his damage and fire rate.
You do realize that blade damage is the same as a junkrat mine, right? Good luck getting the devs to remove the teamplay elements of his design that are the only reason he ever wins games. Genji is not a solo carry. 2 ults into zero ults should team wipe. That’s how the game works lmao. People just dont like it because they waste their ults and then get caught out lol. It’s a 2 ult combo that gets countered by support ults, it’s not that OP lmao
Remember what happened last time genji got buffed? Nano blade was everywhere. I don’t have a problem with nano blade itself, I have a problem with the way it’s preventing him from getting meaningful changes.
Dude that’s literally because the Genji players that quit the game because of Brig started coming back. Genji is a fun hero to play, and to play against imo. I’ve killed a Nanoblading genji with a mercy boosted blade in ranked and the slash after the deflect cancel felt soooooo good. And I guarantee you plenty of people climbed punishing those nanoblades with gravs (sig or zarya), shatters, trances, beats, rallies, or just straight up 7s of stunlock because that’s possible in this game lmao. Hell, nanoblade can even be countered by sleep dart, which comes from a hero in that meta combo lmao. People who think genji is op just dont pay attention to him and get mad when he punishes their absense of gamesense.
And str8 up I dont care if he gets midfight buffs if they gut the most engaging and rewarding element of his kit. Genji could get 80m/s primary fire without breaking the game. The only counternerf that that would warrant imo is a nerf to ult gain, because that’s the only other thing it would indirectly buff. Everything else keeps the same power level; he’s not any better against tanks, he doesnt get broken damage combos. All this buff would do is make his primary fire more consistent. 80m/s is significantly slower than hanzo arrows or orisa projectiles, both of which still require aim prediction. Hanzo is actually pretty easy to sidestep, and that’s why Genji’s primary is so bad. Overwatch doesnt have wasd momentum, so projectiles like Genji’s are actually incredibly easy to avoid. 80m/s and they’d still be dodgeable, but you could actually predict a dodge as opposed to just kinda shaking left and right randomly and praying some of them land so you can get blade lmao. Increasing the projectile speed would encourage Genji’s to land their shuriken as opposed to just spamming corners and angles. It would make him more precise and thus a little more consistent in damage output, so he should have his ultgain nerfed a little, but other than that he’d be fine
I agree but he needs some sort of compensation nerfs if we buff him, maybe buff the dragon blade swing damage to 130?
Only compensation nerf he needs is ult charge rate because that’s the only thing that would be unbalanced if we buffed projectile speed for his primary.
You can’t get rid of damage boosted blade because that’s kind of the design of it. From a lore perspective even, Mercy and Genji go together. The damage boost breaks the slash dash threshold so you can actually blade with the resets like you’re supposed to. And it isn’t easy to do that on Genji either, unless your blading into a team devoid of gamesense and they all just group up for the swings, which happens a good amount. It’s also difficult because genji has been so underpowered for so long that imo there are probably some genji players that would be higher rank if he was balanced properly, but he isnt. Genji’s in ranks below plat should be losing more consistently and winning more consistently above plat. As it stands though, Genji is a terrible hero to solo queue because his midfight is held back unfairly because people just dont like dying to nanoblade. Boohoo press Q 4head
Ah ok, my world turned upside down for a moment ![]()
Well I dunno if he’d be less dangerous than Zen but he’s is pretty dangerous. Far more than mercy though. The issue would be that he also can lead into quick finishers for close range. This is also alongside his extremely powerful ult. Reducing ult charge will just keep it on par with what it is now. If you want more power to his base kit, his ult would have to be nerfed ![]()
I dunno, I’m not a huge fan of her tremendous damage, aoe damage, knockback/escape and extremely powerful ult. It just feels that she’s got too much to her kit.
Also the issue with mercy boosting into ones shots like widow but without the charge. I guess having extremely powerful ranged heroes that also have good disengage/escapes seems like a bad thing…
That’s… quite a buff… if we go with your numbers that’s more than doubling his effective range. Combine that with how strong his melee/double jump/fan spam is… ![]()
There’s a lot of Damage heroes… there’s bound to be in some overlap between them. It’s doesn’t seem like he’s either under/overpowered…
I dunno about inflated… he’s still doing the damage. It would be interesting to see a thorough breakdown of all the damage done etcetcetc
but if he was to have his normal damage buffed they’d have to tone down the power of his ult
Though again it would be interesting to see how much damage leads to a kill and how much is like. What is the optimal ratio between the two, etc.
Well, maybe their Dva is amazing and their Genji isn’t actually that great
I can get a ton done with monkey if I get nano. Ana isn’t just an extension of Genji.
They don’t have to listen to you and you aren’t necessarily correct
having solo heroes too powerful is a huge problem in 6v6 team games. Especially when they’re super mobile and are free to attack the vulnerable backline without having to go through Tanks/Damage heroes like McCree/Torb/Sym/Bastion ![]()
He can flank though. He has plenty of mobility to get behind, poke, pick off vulnerable heroes. He shouldn’t be able to put down other less mobile Damage heroes nor should he be able freely attack both Supports without Tank support (neither should Doom/Tracer).
This is as it should be ![]()
Once again here to tell you that pickrate is IRRELEVANT. Rein is not the best tank in the game because he has the best pickrate. Mercy is not the best support either. Just because people play a hero does NOT mean they’re in a good spot balance wise. Its crazy how many people use this argument with how irrelevant it is.
Reinhardt’s charge
Roadhog’s breather
Sigma’s KG
Reaper’s Shadow Step
All stop them from attacking, just like deflect.
Except they have no way to interrupt their respective abilities while Genji could ALWAYS interrupt Deflect with any of his other abilities like using Swift Strike or Wall Climb.
Being able to manually cancel it was not a QoL change, it allowed deflect to immediately be followed up with shuriken attack then dash.
And Genji never was in a state where Deflect lasted 2 second but didn’t have a manual cancel.
If by weaker you mean objectively stronger then yes.
Yeah since only April of this year they buffed his damage and RMB fire rate, they they reverted the damage and RMB fire rate buff.
But they NEVER reverted his spread buff which is really good.
Well there you go… Jeff said it therefore it can’t be a mistake.
Jeff also said he through Brig was fine to launch in the state she launched in.
No you can get EXTRA value if players shoot at Deflect.
It’s incredible value just stopping them from shooting. Way better value than returned damage blocked as temp-shields.
Genji didn’t need a narrower spread on right click.
He still doesn’t.
Because right click got a buff it really didn’t need and left click DIDN’T get the buff it actually needed.
By design itself Genji is SUPPOSED to play at 15m.
It’s kinda sad when Echo and Doomfist are played more into hitscan than the dev defined “hitscan counter” on the projectile flex dps slot.
No they wouldn’t, because Genji is not overpowered or even exactly balanced right now. He still underperforms when compared to most hitscan or his flex flanker counterparts. Echo, Soldier, Cree, Ashe, all on average deal about 2k more damage than him, and that’s AFTER factoring in the amount of nanoblade usage. Genji gets a ton of resources and still underperforms comparatively in damage. Here’s the kicker though, 2 ult combos should win a fight. They just should, if the enemy doesnt use any ults to defend, and nanoblade is EASILY countered with only like one ult and then proper positioning.
Idc how great your d.va player is. If you’re playing in gm with a gm d.va and a masters genji and you are an ana player? You’re gonna give genji the nano if you want to win because that is your BEST WINCON. Not doing so because of some prejudice against dps players is just being blatantly stupid for the sake of some silly role pride ![]()
It’s clear now that you have never played Genji competitively in your life now, so your opinion actually means nothing to me. Hope the UP Genji mains that are making you salty keep kicking you in ranked. Monkey should no better than anybody how easy it is to punish Genji, but I guess you’re just not good enough yet lmao
He gets the elims though.
I think that’s just a product of his playstyle, his targets are less likely to escape, be healed only to lose all their health again. Only slightly less likely, 2k out of 16k.
Nope.
Loads of ults don’t combo as well.
Bob and Grav is not guaranteed to win a fight.
Nanoblade will always combo so well because genji can still use swift-strike which is a snowballing ability.
Nano isn’t special, it’s one way to damage amp genji, loads of ults can be damage amped. The problem is the snowballing dash.
What you see as a “problem” tho, genius, is an intended element of gameplay that is legitimately the only reason the hero is or was ever played. If you cannot see that, it’s not even worth discussing because you live inba fantasy land where every hero in Overwatch needa Sym level reworks lmao. Genji is for the most part balanced, he’s just inconsistent and his primary fire is useless, which is ironic lmao
I never said the dash’s reset on kill should be ENTITRELY removed.
If you cannot see that, it’s not even worth discussing because you live in a fantasy land where you imagine people say things they never said.
I said it was a problem when he could snowball during his ultimate.
Genji’s ultimate is a transformation ultimate, that means things he just cannot do some things and can do other things he couldn’t do before. Like right click goes dead, quick-melee button goes dead and primary attack button now makes sword swings instead of shoots shurikens.
This needs to be extended to dash, the button/key for Swift Strike should go dead with mobility added to the ultimate some other way such Genji instead gets a +50% speed buff during the ult (as fast as Soldier’s sprint). Dash could still be used to engage, dashing to a point above their heads and dropping down while the ult activates.
This would make the ultimate easier to balance as the damage is more consistent, the mobility is more consistent. No snowballing effects.
hell to the no, genji need nerfs
Genji doesn’t need nerfs lol
