Do you don’t wan’t too realize you play the most hated char? That alone shows you that’s something wrong with her, but keep ignoring it and think she is fine, she is not.
It’s not subjective and no, not every hero gives you 0 control ability…
There is only one other hero and he is hated nearly as much, hmm why is this? Cause it’s not fun to not play your own char?
I mean are you only playing her in like double shield comp or some sort of rein zarya deathball devoted to making you a w+m1 battering ram? or in or BOSS comp where you just act as a tp dispenser that just spams orbs outside of their effective range? because in both cases, the comp (or in the rein zarya case, the active gameplay of others) inherently takes care of everything for you.
you can even see it in OWL that the people playing sym there don’t actually play sym well, they’re just being w+m1 tp dispensers. I’ve never once seen an OWL player pull off an orb burst combo or dynamic use of tp. even the 1 time they try to turret bomb they set up right in front of the enemy line of sight without cover leading turrets to be destroyed and wasting a tp. or alternatively in recent times they tried to wasd solo flank an incoming push but was too slow/late to the fight and basically threw leaving their team in a 5v6.
I realize LOTS of people hate how Mei kills people. This means nothing. Lots of people also hate how Widow and Junkrat kill people. People will always hate on what they cannot or do not like to deal with.
No, some of them just kill you outright or knock you around… that’s much better right? It’s COMPLETELY subjective. the sooner you realize that your perspective isn’t everyones, the better.
Again, your hate of a particular mechanic or method is completely subjective and not everyone thinks as you do.
I am at peace with the fact that no matter WHAT game I play, when I do well with any kit or character people will use the excuse that it’s not fair, or it’s cheesy, or it’s low skill. Meanwhile I’m having a blast and they limit their options because they make up their own rules for gameplay like “I’m not gonna use that because it’s not fun!” or “That’s too easy to use, I won’t use it”. Just because you limit yourself doesn’t mean others have to. Generally I find people who “hate” a character have no idea how to actually play that character/kit and have wildly incorrect assumptions about how they work and what their limits and uses are.
tbh that won’t do much on its own. i.e. even now sym doesn’t live long in 15m and even at 15m, primary will still be an extremely situational weapon fire.
improving orbs in consistency, tp in cast frequency and her overall sustain would be the key things that’d put her at the same level as other dps tbh.
That is almost my point, I can swag on enemies while using my tp as a spawn taxi because of how low her skill floor is. I personally do not have a problem with it, but I have basically no respect for the skill it takes to play her.
What you are talking about, optimizing her, I can respect that. But I hardly need to do that to get value. And I would never buff a hero just because it is hard to master based on how poorly designed they were. That just makes no sense to me.
I’d just like the teeny weeny nerf of her HP to 200 from 250. For some reason Mei and Ana are much harder to kill than others. It’s not the extra HP but something with their hit-box. I found it for ages with hog right clicks at the right distance that they barely impact Mei or Ana even with direct hits while other squishes lose half their health or more. Now I play soldier more (because, well tanks are in a bad way just now…) and it’s the same issue - firing directly at them and their health seems to take much less of a hit than other squishes. I have no idea why - it’s as if their hit-boxes are only half the size they are.
why I’m requoting this will become clear with this explanation:
spawn taxi’s (i.e. ones left there for long periods of time) aren’t valuable. in fact it’s often more detrimental than helpful because you’ve taken out your own mobility to get hero uptime for long periods of time +12s. you spend much more time in your hero down time than whatever time you MAY save a teammate from walking back and you’re guaranteed to pay up with that down time, lack of in-battle options, etc. up front irrespective of whether your teammates actually die and use it.
and if you’re permanently leaving tp far off somewhere, you’re literally playing sym1.0 at that point i.e. you’re not getting much value.
sitting back to spam orbs inconsistently landing them, having purely passive turret placement that waits a long time for enemies to pass through to contribute value and waiting for your team to hand you a w+m1 moment on a silver plate isn’t “getting that value”. in fact it’s very likely less value than a soldier or even a sombra sitting back in 1 position spray’n’praying because at least they’d be more consistently landing shots thus leading to a higher contribution average.
Of course I could get more value during poke with someone else, but that is not even the point. Once they push past and try to cap… lul, good luck with that. My team would need to be serious garbage for that to happen. I can just chill, ult, reapply turrets, charge on a barrier and wipe them myself.
Albeit, that only really works on 2cp and hybrid first defense. But you get my point. It is easy.
I think you are thinking of normal maps, or offense, or against people with brains. That is all well and good, but I only pick her when it is free, baby.
do you realise how ridiculous all your statements combined sound?
i.e. “I can get easy but minimal value by not playing the hero well and getting success in a very very limited set of environments with teammates that handle pretty much most of all the work for me and against incompetent enemies so I don’t respect that at all and thus the hero shouldn’t be buffed despite their glaring issues because of that.”
like legit that can be said about any existing hero no matter how strong or weak they are.
and your whole “easy for value” stance based purely on this experience is exactly why I said:
No, my teammates handle holding the choke and when they FAIL, I carry.
The enemies are going to be incompetent regardless of who I pick. I play 2800 to 3200, usually.
I never said she should not be buffed. I asserted she should not be buffed on the basis of skill because she is one of the easiest heroes in the game. Heck, even Moira needs to actually do her job or she gets no value.
Yeah, it is based on me dominating with a hero that I basically have no clue how to play. I am not sure what is confusing. That is EXACTLY why I think she is easy as hell. She is literally the only hero in the game where this is applicable. Whatever you think is low skill might as well be rocket science compared to this mess of a hero.
I am not trying to throw shade at you or Sym mains. But I am not alone in the sentiment, she is really, really easy to play.
… This is not Teeny Weeny. This is an entire shot from the mid-damage tier. Mei is close range, even more so now that she’s getting nerfed. Take away her health as well and she’s just toast.
If anything, I think this encourages her to use icicles more. I would just play her as a better McCree post nerf. But I am kind of overly passive, so that is probably the wrong call. But I do not care. Dank headshots are more important than playing as a boring tank.
Hitscan are fine. In fact, it seems like hitscan are running the whole game at this point. You think they game is getting better by hard nerfing mei… it isnt trust me.
wow man, completely forgetting flankers exist who can zip past to destroy turrets and/or sym, or alternatively, snipers that’d at least zone you out as sym which your team will have to handle for you
and I’ve been saying, it’s not you dominating, it’s you being carried by your team. then you turning around here saying it’s easy and all your work when it legit isn’t.
flankers and snipers getting taken care of for you. your inherent lower poke being taken care of for you. threatening ults are being taken care of for you. getting in and staying in effective range safely is being taken care if for you. because there really isn’t any other way to explain your acclaimed success with playing sym as sym1.0. you can legit replace sym with a soldier in those situations and playing the same way and at least achieve the same value if not better. does that make soldier ridiculously easy undeserving of respect?
I think she is fine at the moment, they fixed some issues Tanks were having with Ice Wall, it now can be seen breaking, and she has less ammo so she can’t just sit there and freeze. I don’t have issues with Mei, i think there is definitely other characters they should focus on other than her.
