"Bro, i don't know how to play Reaper"

Those were real words spoken to me by an 11/21 Soj one trick who was the SOLE reason we lost a game. Fym “don’t know how to play Reaper”!? That’s literally one of the easiest heroes in the game. You just walk forward and shoot!! You use TP to jump people and wraith to get out!! There’s literally nothing more to Reaper than that!!

“IF REAPER ISNT BEING PLAYED IN COMP THAT MEANS YOURE THROWING” ~ some of yall

They had a Winston, Bastion, Ana and Wuyang. Pretty good comp to play Reaper into, especially when you have Kiri, Ana, and Roadhog

Meh i dont ever tell people to switch thats just asking for a ban, im always dumbfounded when a woman gets on mic and tells me to switch off mercy in the last minute of a losing match. Anyways, im generally just grateful reaper has a relatively low play rate to how powerful he is

Ryo, is that you because given what i saw, you having an unhinged and very odd take like this tracks.

Im not ryo, my name is ryley though

He played Hog vs Ana and Bastion and thinks that only this one dps was to blame for the defeat…

Reaper sucks to be honest. Ana and Wuyang alone make him unplayable unless they decide to just not use abilities.

I had only 4 deaths all game. I used this novel thing called natural cover and misdirection. I tactically avoided them when they had their CDs. Not that difficult given my 3 other teammates were shooting back.

I mean if Reaper is 7th most used DPS in GM, he must be good down in Plat/Diamond border. I just wanted the monkey to become irrelevant and for the guy to play a DPS that could potentially do better into Ana and Bastion.

Regardless, going 11/21 as Soj and then strangely claiming “I don’t know how to play Reaper” wasn’t the way forward.

The keywords are there mate.

Spoiler Alert: Sojourn has nothing to do with it.

Really? That’s pretty corny. This game is becoming Mahvel Jr.

I just had a game where my team was bullying me, so I decided to play my first game of Moon Knight and I accidentally carried and then turned the other team against me too.

He’s not one of the easiest heroes to play in the game, actually.

He has a very steep learning curve, and any competent team can effortlessly counter him. Reaper performs best when you can’t see him coming. That means you need an extremely good sense of map awareness so you know the best places to travel to avoid the enemy team’s sight lines so you can ambush them. Because if an enemy team knows you’re coming, they will be watching their flanks, and the moment you try to drop in and ambush, they’ll drop enough ammo on you to either kill you or make you use wraith form to escape.

And that effectively takes you out of the fight until it’s off cooldown, because unless you’ve got a pocket healer, trying to reengage without wraith form is a death sentence.

Only high-skilled Reaper players can play around teams that know they’re coming and dominate matches, and frankly? If your Sojourn is 11/21, they’re likely not a high-skilled Reaper player even if they didn’t say it directly to you.

I’m sure they weren’t the only reason you guys lost that match. It’s a team game. Like I get that maybe because of the comp you felt it was best, but playing somebody you don’t have a lot of time on or don’t feel like you’re good enough on yet can feel daunting especially if it’s in comp. And why is it up to that person to go reaper? If it was that big of a deal to have a reaper then the other dps could have just have easily played him too. I understand that the sojourn wasn’t doing good enough for you but maybe the other dps would have done better on reaper than them.

I personally don’t either. I’m like play whoever you feel is best. And if somebody is yelling at me to switch that honestly just makes me not want to. If they ask can you switch/play this person then I’m more willing to switch.

To pick up and play, he is definitely one of the easiest. But I totally understand the struggle once you are playing against multiple counters on a bad map. It’s pretty difficult.

TLDR: I literally turn my brain off and unga bunga with him whenever i play him and i do so to exceptional effect.

No they absolutely were. All of my other teammates and myself were positive and getting kills no problem. We also weren’t dying much. I had hardly any deaths in spite of the fact they had a Bastion and an Ana. I just shot back, my teammates shot back and apart from that one singular weak link, we were on course to win.

The one time Soj shot back, we were uncontestable.

Then you’re up against bad teams with no map awareness. Which doesn’t surprise me, because teams can be very hit or miss, but a good team will rip you to pieces if you try to ‘unga bunga’ your way to victory.

I know the exact type of teams you’re going up against as well, because they’re the teams I do well with Reaper against, where I can get 18+ kills with only 2 or 3 deaths. But against a good team? It’s usually the other way around, and I have to swap to another hero that isn’t so easily countered.

These so-called “good” teams just make me plot out my plans of attack a bit more but they don’t usually stop me outright. It’s not always a cakewalk but Reaper is legitimately good and even a newbie could learn the ins and outs of Reaper’s kit in about a couple days

Still a team game. Stats don’t always show everything
