✅ Bring Competitive Classic to the Experimental Card!

Not really because it didn’t split comp. It split the people who aren’t in a proper competitive nor team oriented mindset out of comp perhaps, but those people didn’t belong there anyway with that attitude.

Those are the people who will go to Competitive Classic - they didn’t belong in “proper” Competitive anyway so no loss? If by “proper” you mean 2-2-2?

It split the competitive player base into those that do and those that don’t hate Role Q

Wasn’t one of the major selling points of Role Queue that supposedly players don’t feel forced to play a role that they don’t want to?

Also what’s wrong with specialisation?

Those people don’t belong in any mode called competitive, because if they were actually in the right mindset they realize 222 was needed and adjust accordingly.

Double shield rein+sigma and dva with triple support (I’d actually love to see dps players who ask for role q to be gone to be put into this, where they can’t shoot anything because there are so many barriers, defense matrix, brig, ana and lucio heals) and really long queue times for everyone and no matches at all for lower populated servers such as asia console or south america as the competitive population would be split.

I don’t know if people like you who ask for “freedom” know the hell it would be to have 3 or 4 tanks with Sigma and the 3 seconds boosters dva in the game.

Are you saying that any composition outside of 2-2-2 is automatically non-competitive?

I’m saying that most people who want non RQ aren’t going to play comps that properly syngerize and just do whatever so that should stay in qpc.

Hmm, that’s not an unreasonable point to make, but there’s an important distinction, as Overwatch 2, no matter the conditions, will bring significant profits to Blizzard, while a potential Overwatch Classic game mode won’t…

Why would they bother when there’s already quick play classic? If anything they would do it with the 132 mode being tested…

Not at all… only casual players will play the PvE mode. The hard core PvP will keep playing the modes you see in the game right now.

How are you so sure that the sequel will bring significant profits while the classic game mode won’t do so especially when we look at the success of games such as World of Warcraft classic?

War craft three re-forged is another story but that had more to do with very poor execution or failing to deliver on promises.

I’m against putting Comp Classic on the card, since surely it wouldn’t require any experimentation to create a version of QPC with Comp rules. Let’s keep the card for wilder game modes, please.

No, Comp Classic should have gone live along with RQ itself to help take pressure off the DPS queue times in Comp.

The experimental aspect of this would be to see whether the mode is popular when offered side by side with 222 Competitive

If it is, it should theoretically draw off a disproportionate number of dps players (disheartened by the long queuing times there) from 222 Competitive and ergo lower queuing times there, which would be a very desirable outcome

Putting it on the experiment card would be disappointing because Comp Classic wouldn’t be new gameplay; we know how it goes already. While I admit I’m going out on a limb here, I also reckon we can say that QPC is a force for good because DPS queue times in QP are only five to ten minutes long (at least, for me). We don’t need to squeeze something novel out of the experimental slot for CC.

Comp Classic should have been an option from day one of RQ, and should be pushed out pronto. I say this as someone who enjoys 222 RQ greatly, finds QPC intolerable, and has no desire to touch CC.

I mean… you could potentially look at how many people play QPC to determine whether it would be worth it or not. I get people are like “Oh but I want my games to matter” but I have no idea, I wish the devs would release more statements about some of these things, just to try and put people at ease.

This doesn’t need elaboration.

I see and understand your point, but to me, the excessive queue times that 222 brought to the game are one of the single biggest problems in OW at this time; and I see the experimental card as a valuable tool to help find ways to solve severe problems like this

So yes, we do indeed know how role-less/pre222 queue goes per se, but what we dont know is whether offering it side by side with 222 would significantly reduce queue times

Well, first of all I don’t think I even have to get into the huge distinction between a whole new decade - old game getting re - released based pretty much solely on nostalgia and a simple game mode returning after just a few months.

And, despite that, Competitive Classic doesn’t even have the potential to succeed in the first place, as not many people want to play such a game mode again, considering that the majority of the Overwatch player base really enjoys 2/2/2 role - lock in the first place (according to pretty much every single source of metrics/data out there, trustworthy or not).

why would a source of data not deemed trustworthy be considered as legitimately supporting any given claim?
