For Competitive, at least, I think it’s unfair for us console players to fight PC players. I know there is a chance that they end up on our team as well, but then we still are fighting harder not to be the weak link. There use to be an option to only allow matches against other console players in OW 1; OW 2 allows you to toggle the option, but no longer allows you to join matches with it activated.
The problem is twofold. Firstly, keyboard vs controller. This is the obvious one - keyboard and mouse are a more accurate combo than a joystick controller.
Secondly, and less obvious, the majority of PC players in comp (at least where I’m at, in Gold) are teamed up with one or two more people. Even if they aren’t, they risk nothing typing notices in Team chat - whereas a console player is soft throwing if they go AFK to type something. The ping system is helpful, but clearer communication can make all the difference in a match.
If no solo queue only comp, then we need a console only comp queue. Matchmaking will stay as wonky as it is now I think until this happens. Quick Play is fine, as there are no real repercussions for losing games except limitations to having fun. Deranking is a penalty, and I believe this step can make it more fair.
you’re not playing against PC in comp. when you queue comp it tells you you’re in the console pool

You don’t fight against PC players.
In fact, even in QP you don’t unless you are grouping with a PC player.

Like the others have said, console only comp is already in use and has been the only player pool for console players to queue for comp in since crossplay came out.
If you’ve been getting outplayed, it’s just by better console players or Ximming console players.

Boy, do I feel silly…So those arrows next to a player’s profile in recent players is referring to Cross CONSOLE, not Cross PLATFORM. My bad.
I looked again, turns out I just keep playing Plat players. A few might be Ximming because, like I said about communication, they were typing in Group chat a mile a minute, immediate responses.
So there are just other problems with general matchmaking and Ximming, nothing to do with my issues. Thanks for the clarification, all!
Yep, easily done on Xbox (and maybe PlayStation idk) if you just plug a usb keyboard into your console and use it to type instead of the slow and fiddly onscreen keyboard that pops up. Least that’s how I did it.

this is literally impossible. PC cannot play against console in COMP.
