So dumb though right? Suits never get it. Talent creates the value people want, you can commercialise that however you like off the side… loot boxes whatever… but the core product has to be there and have whatever secret-sauce it started with or one day… nothing.
It should be clear by now that Blizzard has no intention of supporting any form of PvE content for Overwatch 2. If they really wanted to bring Archives back, they would have done so by now.
Ngl 50% of the reason I originally bought OW was because I saw YouTubers playing Uprising. I started playing a few months before the fan favorite Retribution. Lotta nostalgia for those missions. Played Mystery Swap Underworld to death just because it was so close in structure to those missions.
Presumably they’d have to rebuild literally everything about the missions from the ground up since OW2 is, like, on a different game engine or something. I dunno exactly about the technical aspect, but with the PVE team being laid off, I doubt we’ll be seeing those missions any time soon.
don’t even say it theoretically: it would be extremly unfair to make you pay for a mode that will then be abandoned to the exact same fate as the invasion dlc: ZERO people willing to play the legendary mode all year or next years
I fully agree with the OP. The events, especially archives, were a fun diversion.
I mean, a game with a fairly substantial toxicity and stress problem of its own creation which provides only negative reinforcements while throwing you right back into the exact place that was the root cause, without providing a “cool off” mechanism is just plain not paying attention to the needs of all of their playerbase.
Pretty sure they were searching a way to monetize it or at least keeping it away to shift the attention to the new story mode that they were trying to sell.
It was quite convenient to be just a coincidence. They brought back all of the other crap modes.
I mean, personally, I think they decided “oh, we can’t monetize this enough, but let’s put out these few missions in a bundle anyway. at least we’ll recover some cost”
I doubt they planned on continueing it, ever since OW2 launched.
The missions tab could have a dedicated lfg or a general chat. That would already make it more populated as people could find people to play with more easily.
(A few challenge modes or an all heroes mode could draw more interest to the missions again)
