After finishing placements and climbing ladder for the rest of the day, it seems pretty clear that Brigitte is season 10’s Mercy rework all over again. The character generates so much value both in a team fight and after a team fight that the team with the Brigitte has a clear advantage over the team that doesn’t, and people are picking Zarya and Zenyata now just for shield and armour so they never die in a brawl.
That’s jus the ultimate, but the character herself is a Tank, Support and DPS all rolled into one character, her 600hp shield already makes her highly survivable, but her 50 armour lets her survive practically any Tracer clip or Reaper shot even if you are skilled enough to out flank her so she’s literally dictating what DPS the other team can and can’t play now.
Even more, her cooldown’s have killed tanking complete, Winston can’t engage as a main tank vs a Brigitte as long as her Whipshot is on cooldown and Reinhardt is defenseless vs Shield Bash so only Orisa, D.va and Roadhog are really viable tanks if you aren’t running the Reinhardt, Zarya and Brigitte deathballs yourself.
The character has to be the epitome of an overpowered, unskilled character able to dictate the whole meta and a “must pick” on ladder right now. This character probably needs to be nerfed more than Ana did to find any semblance of balance, and frankly the whole character design should probably undergo a rework as a CC based, mutant Tank, Healer, DPS that any gold can beat a GM Genji with is just going to force people off of the higher skill characters for lower skill characters that give free value with practically no effort.
This is not the answer to dive we needed/wanted, it’d be better to shelve Brigitte altogether and then just buff Reinhardt, Zarya, Roadhog and Ana rather than let an uninteractable stun dictate the course of every fight on point right now. CC is really hitting a critical mass in the game, as it’s not at all uncommon to get chain CCed until you’re dead. It’s not skillful, it’s not fun, it’s mandatory to play and makes over half of the DPS roster pretty bad right now.
