You don’t know what her background is. Her parents may be alive but she could jave been inspired like Pharah was. Actually she probably is similar in the sense that she wants to be a hero but never got the chance to make that leap like Pharah did due to her mother not being around. Also, Orisa has literally no background other than being created to fight Doomfist. Brigitte might have been preparing to enter the battlefield for a while now.

It’s WAY too soon to make these claims. For one, we don’t even have confirmation that it’s Brigitte or even confirmation that it’s a new hero, could be clues to hint at a new animated short or anniversary event for all we know. Even if Brigitte turns out to be the next hero, Blizz would have held back all those juicy details on purpose, lest the community go “why is this random side character getting tons of lore compared to every one else?”

What is all this rubbish about growing up and having no trauma etc? She has a father that was always away fighting and was almost killed that’s enough to ruin most kids in today’s world.

Yeah, they are so bored that they escort gloves to museums and movie directors to their trailers. That’s only one tiny step less pathetic than being a security guard in a mall.
In that sense Overwatch is a sad story about veterans srruggling to find their place in modern world that has no real wars for them to fight.

Brigitte is the perfect candidate for a defender based on personality. She has plenty family and friends to defend. You don’t need to be tattered and ruined as a person, to be willing to protect your family.

She’s traveling around with Reinhardt, so she literally has as much reason to be fighting as Reinhardt.

Unless that was really early on as apposed to later and she built up muscle over time (as humans tend to do)
So basically it’s ok to have Lucio or D.va in the game but when someone with a similar background and doesn’t have any edgy backstory to it, it’s doors closed for them.
Maybe she’s joining because of Rein and Torb? Maybe because she wants to make Overwatch better then what it is? Or perhaps there is some lore we don’t know yet which might relate to the upcoming PvE event which explains why she joined?
Not every character needs a edgy backstory like dead parents or psychological issues. Sometimes the best back stories can be as simple as listening to mad tales from an old man. Something to be inspired by as you grow up.

You are overthinking this. Maybe she just wants to make sure rein and torb are ok? Isn’t that reason enough? This is not Dc/Marvel, where everyone aims to save or destroy the earth.
It’s not unheard of for idols to be made into officers for a day as publicity stunts. That’s how I always interpreted the police dva skin.
I guarantee she is coming in the future.
She grew up during a war and with two father figures we also don’t know her whole lore nor does she have to fit your parameters

Are you talking about Reaper ? He didn’t betray Overwatch because of Morrison, he’s been a terrorist long before the Swiss HQ explosion, which is why their friendship started fading, not the other around. He betrayed them because the whole organization was a torn to his plans, not because of Morrison or their respective job positions.
Isn’t that the whole point of having new heroes? To introduce characters with backstories that haven’t been done before? Honestly, a better argument could be made that she steps on Zarya or Orisa’s toes in terms of personality. Personally, I’m hoping it’s Bridgette cause she’s cute and it would lead to some fun interactions with the cast, but as long as it’s a tank I’ll be happy.
That description doesn’t really fit a character like D.va too, and yet there she is.
