Blizzard VP Mike Ybarra asked the community how important Cross-Play/Progression is (Twitter Poll closed)

But don’t you have a phone?

Sincerely,

I voted no.

Playstation players dont want to play with Xbox players because they have more powerful systems and better controllers. And Xbox players dont want to play with PC players for those same reason.

But PC players, well they just see it as having fun with friends who dont have a pc.

I guess my vote wont matter, since i don’t Twitter. Tbh… using Social Media as your voting medium is garbage, because there are a lot of your playerbase that doesn’t use social media. There have been conversations on this back on the older WoW Forums when they would say “Follow <@whatever> on Twitter” for updates, for whatever the current issue was. So just know there will be a significant amount of players who’s voices wont be heard. If it matters, i don’t care, I only play on PC.

In a general sense like he is asking it really depends on the game, all answers are both right and wrong in my opinion.
In the sense of Overwatch as there are many things different between console and PC (aim assist being the big one) Crossplay is something that should not come to Overwatch.

I think cross progression is more important, but going forward, crossplay should be a thing within reason.

Would controller advantage really be an issue given a skill based matchmaker? It’s based on their performance, so innate advantage won’t matter, just results they can repeat. Console player may potentially need to try harder, but it’d still be fair if they can.
And that’s assuming there is a big difference. I remember the community of some Halo or CoD game recently noticing there wasn’t a major difference in crossplay skill.

I say it would be fine as even PC people have drastically different level of aim. Everyone’s MMR would normalize over time.

Yes to custom games
Yes to arcade
No to QP and comp (except PS4-Xbox)

Right. So I would drop in rank. Because I wouldn’t be using the “correct” hardware.

Between consoles? Absolutely. Any other crossplay? Hell no. I don’t want console players in my games, and when I am trying to do some legit gaming, phones are the last thing on my mind.

Oh my bad. Then we agree.

Hm? I didn’t respond to you, but I think you mistakenly responded to me.

Would you rather be masters on console, or Diamond irregardless? I would rather be Diamond all around than be masters in an environment where people are inherently handicapped.

Omg yes crossplay between all 3 consoles is a must have.

Ähm I get it that people don’t want crossplay between console and pc for competitive but I believe that it should be optional for everything else.

Whoops again. I’m sorry been up since 4:30.

I’d rather be masters. More cp.

Allow m&k for consoles crossplaying pc’s and you’ve got my vote…

Maybe between PS and Xbox console players only? I can’t see this working with PC or Switch in the mix, as there’s a clear competitive advantage that both would have over PS and Xbox.

Must have! If PC doesn’t want crossplay with console that’s fine but let’s try it between ps4, xbox and switch. It would greatly help the whole queue times dilemma. PC players can have their own thing or have an option to enable crossplay idc. But anything to make it for console is a win-win for everyone.

Make cosmetics cross-platform. Big NO to cross play though.
