I’m sure the devs are busy working on the PvE stuff we were supposed to get with OW2. Wont be surprised if that turns into more paid content at this point.
If they do go F2P I have no doubt they will monetize the PvE

The only things I’m curious about
Game pass only affects console and xbox app users
Their branding could use an improvement.
agreed, communication has been pretty bad
I don’t expect any info on the battlepass until it is in the game.
It will probably be another anti consumer stuff like diablo immortal situation that will just be pushed quietly into the game.
Just like every game of today I expect it to be anti-consumer friendly in its entirety. Modern 2022-era gaming is the worst of any time period imaginable. Games have absolutely no substance or soul anymore, it’s all money money money, or nothing.
These game devs on a daily basis, worldwide, show how they don’t care about a single one of their consumers. It is only going to get worse from here.
There is also the possibility that they know how unpopular the system will be and have no intention of announcing anything before release…Which is in their best interest.
Well 15€ for 2months is funny…
True, why would they reveal in details, how they are going to extract money from you?
Such money-extracting scheme works much better on unaware customers, that can be carefully and steadily led into spending more without realising it.
Plus, they definitely do not want any evidence, should someone sue them for changing terms of customer agreement, by having “good” version of monetisation on paper, and then implementing “bad” one. No one can say “you promised x thing, but instead do y thing”, if they never promised anything in the first place.
DI is a mobile game. The mobile gaming industry operates very differently from that of PC/console (even though there are ports). Ever since mobile games could be downloaded or bought, previously they came preinstalled on your phone, the industry’s practice has been excessive monetization.
This is not new or out of the ordinary. It does suck sometimes but it has always been that way.
I can’t see that logic - better to out it now and get the butt-hurt out of the way instead of marring their launch…

Would you rather have players try your game and potentially enjoy it only for them to then find out they dislike the monetisation or not try it at all due to negative media coverage?
I’m not saying this is definitely the case but it’s absolutely possible and not a stretch. Especially when we consider Diablo Immortal.
That’s my point - better to out it now so its not a story then. I mean lets be honest, if they go the DI route (they won’t), people can 1) pay in as they want - the game is free btw, or 2) don’t. It’s Activision-Blizzards choice to gamble on how they want to monetize, and your decision to go with it or not. But I do think they need to just get the question out of the way now. I just don’t think based on what we have seen to date its going to be all that bad, I think people are so scared they will miss out on the good skin they are freaking out.
Ofc blizz wont “open up” Because that would cause bad press and sh##storms, something even their bad marketing team is aware of.
They will, its just a question of when. I think now is the best time, or soon, get it out of the way because the longer they wait the more the sour theory-crafters will spin.
The one good thing for console players is that they will not be forced to subscribe to the Xbox, Playstation or Nintendo online services to get access to F2P OW.
Imagine the monthly costs if this is the only online game they’re playing :p…
I mean that’s their decision ![]()
One of many reasons why overwatch failed is the lack of communication, seems like they are doing it again.
I agree - this is why I am at least throwing it out there to communicate on this point to stem the constant stream of fearful negativity some here are stirring with no evidence outside of Diablo Immortal’s monetization. You have to admit, they have been improving somewhat on this point, but they could surely do better.
