Blizzard just can't win, can they?

Yes, $5 would also be a donation believe it or not.

People just saw the $15 donation as a price tag for the cute pink skin, not as donation for researches that would save lives.
I think I will buy the skin when my paycheck arrives, at least this one is for a great cause, and the skin will be a constant reminder that I have helped to save lives.

How would you know there would be no fuss? People could complain about being no incentives for donating.

I love the event and I hope they do more in the future! It’s a great cause. I worry that they might not do it again if people don’t stop raging about it though :frowning:

Yes they will.

I’m not against this at all, spend your cash how you like, I won’t spend mine (I don’t like charities), I only hope they also take this further and raise awareness and funds for other, lesser known diseases.

Everyone is aware of breast cancer, it’s probably the one people know about the most, but it’s not the only one or even the most deadly one.

So I’ll hope to see other events like this in the future with other skins for other diseases.

Shows how many only recognize the event as a temporarily available skin and not as a charity event.

If youre upset about this, the problem is yourself, not blizzard.

How about you hate on CANCER for crying out loud

it is good,

because a few people shout nonsense doesnt mean we dont appreciate it

I’d whine about it.
Blizzard already has a history of pandering towards feminists (made zarya as a direct response to criticisms of how overwatch gorls are too feminine and not varying), and now you get breast cancer awareness?

I dont know if its favoritism or something but they can easily fix this.
By doing MORE charity campaigns but for men AND cancer stuff in general.

I think you need to sit and reflect on your priorities a little, dude.

It is more than fine.

It’s the people who are getting angry at the suggestion that it would be cool if Blizzard could create a similar event for other causes that impact some of their fan base, or people that those individuals know, etc.

Oh, and also the people who are balking at spending $15 to buy something that they aren’t forced to buy, but still feel entitled to it somehow… even if per the terms of the donation, they are not.

what makes me mad more is the fact that the sprays arent global.
They’re mercy specific.
I already got some good sprays on her wheel.
I wanted to put them on other characters, but looks like I cant.

you know, you’re right. i should reflect on my priorities.

I should go and sleep and not argue with a bunch of people who refuse to acknowledge corporate history.

Not sure what that article proves other than that Blizzard is a cool company that tries to represent people who are typically not represented.

no, they altered their own desires to bow before a group of people who actively try and sabotage people who dont actively 100% agree with them.
And bowing before them does literally nothing in terms of gain. This has been proven when Anita outright endorsed a game and it altered literally none of the sales. NO boosts. No decreases.
Just as it was before anita said anything about it.
If anything, I feel like blizzard was afraid. Like they had a gun to their head.

I dont care about this even that much, I bought the mercy skin for charity, mainly for the charity, wouldnt have bought it if it went to blizzard.

I just starting to just not like blizzard in general.

Legally speaking it is a $15 skin that Blizzard then donates themoney from to a phenomenal cause.

You cannot legally consider the $15 as a donation and use it as a tax deduction when you purchase the skin.

Blizzard can legally consider it a donation on their parts and consider it a tax deduction.

This is where a portion of the players being upset is coming from (In addition to those that would prefer a different cause and those that.)

The Overall Outcomes are something like the following:

Everyone:

Cancer Research moves forward slightly which is wonderful.

People that didn’t buy the skin:

A small amount of resources were spent on downloading the update and spent by Blizzard in creating it. (The costs may be offset by the amount of $ the update brings in if Blizzard uses it as a tax deduction)

People that did buy the skin:

They get a relatively cool skin and the satisfaction that they helped donate to a good cause.

Uncle Sam

May be losing out on a bit of $ if Blizzard uses it as a deduction but the money is going to a good cause.

Blizzard

Get’s to help a good cause.

Gets press coverage with most of it being good.

Gets data on what the top end for sales on exclusive skin purchases would be at this point. (Mercy is one of the most popular heros, the skin is decent, and the money is going to a good cause which would likely combine for the skin having sales exceeding future skin sales)

Potentially gets a significant tax deduction. (They may dodge enough taxes that this won’t mean much. Activision (their parent company) uses an odd interaction between laws in the Netherlands and in America to avoid most taxes)

Only giving to a charity during the month that was randomly assigned to that cause is kind of limiting, don’t you think? This cause is important to them. It helps breast cancer research more to receive funds throughout the year instead of just in one month.

Why should people who didn’t want to donate to a good cause be rewarded for all the donations of others?

The only thing I can criticize Blizzard for is making it a limited time thing. Most people would have given money right away anyways, I don’t see a reason to not encourage people to donate to charity year round.

correction, they SAY 100% will go to charity. we don’t know if that’s true yet or not (you should never take what someone says blindly. get proof first)

It is good enough i cannot believe people are complaining! Its crazy
