Interestingly, the timing of the email I received matched hers exactly, which indicates that my account was idling in the background while I was playing on her no-longer-used account. This then resulted in both of our accounts being banned simultaneously.

I think you now have the reason why youāve both been permaād.
In which case, I have NO idea if the situation is salvageable. At best youāre going to have to explain youāre account sharing, and thatās not likely to get the accounts back. But you can try.

If you havenāt spent any money on the game recently then they probably donāt want you here anyways. Account sharing is basically against the terms though and once they put 2 and 2 together itās probably over.

In fact, Iāve collected all the skins, including the discontinued Chengdu Hunters and Philadelphia Fusion league skins, all the passes since Overwatch 2, reaching level 200 every season, as well as playing in the PvE mode.
I think this is the issue. Maybe one of your so call friends was using some kind of hack. Blizzard is now banning friends of hackers if you were grouped.

Welcome to the club. I had never been actioned in 7 years. Now Iāve been actioned 3 times this month. The system has clearly been broken somehow in the last few weeks.

Itās their stupid automated system based on X amount of reports.
I got chat silenced for a while (I wonāt say I didnāt deserve it, but all I did was insult back people who started it by insulting me first for no reason with stuff like āuninstall, kidā, āgo back to training rangeā, and telling me to off myself. Of course, nothing happened to them).
When it wore off, I stopped doing that and only responded to people asking questions like āwhatās your favorite condiment?ā, complimenting people who got a nice shot on me, thanking our support at the end of the match and maybe occasionally saying āman, stomps suckā when being hard stomped.
3 days later I got a popup telling me that my behavior is not in line. Iāll probably get another chat silence unless I go completely silent. The first chat silence probably lowered the threshold needed and now only a couple reports from angry or toxic people are going to trigger the automated system.
Point is, they donāt review, and X amount of reports will eventually get you actioned depending on what youāre reported for. Youāre lucky if itās just Inappropriate Communication, but if people decide to false report you enough for Cheating then youāll get permaād.

I find it amusing how players who get permabanned are stunned & confused as to why when deep down they know the reason but are too ashamed to admit it so they gaslight themselves into believing theyāve done nothing wrong.

Theyāve updated their tracking tools and enforce their CoC and ToS now finally as they shouldāve decade ago. Where as before such things as smurfing, boosting, account sharing and other various activities rarely got suspended due to their problems of tracking the behavior without consistent massive patterns from shady parts of the world or VPN provider IPās or something along those lines; they now can do it without any of those and do it accurately. Someone would be completely in the wrong to rely on their previous shortcomings setting precedence over what is allowed and what is not and then making decisions based on that. Because these actions were never allowed and were actionable things to engage with, they just couldnāt enforce them
But not everything you collected on your original account, that will then cost over a thousand dollars to get again, and some that are unattainable.
If they were different ranks, it looks like hard core smurfing or throwing.
