Eh, they can get around it but it’s a long and tedious process. The AI anti-cheat just needs more data.
That’s a huge claim you’re not able to back up, though…
Blizzard have sued at least two cheat creators in the past.
The problem is that these cheaters can get hardware id spoofers.
Pretty sure Activision lawyers are going after some right now for something related to CoD.
I can’t back it up for blizz in particular, but it’s a “been done” vector.
iirc in 2016 there was a Russian studio + game where 3/4 the team was in on it. They would make more money selling cheats for their game then selling the game itself. Even higher ups were involved. It was basically their business model. source: google and cheat/anti-cheat discussion forums.
insiders are a thing.
maybe they need to keep a closer eye on some of team4 ?
They did it at least once back in '17 and won roughly 8 million dollars and Activision have sued i think 3 cheat creators for cheats used in both CoD and Destiny 2. Activision started legal processes in October of '22 against one creator who made cheats for Warzone.
I can’t find anything related to what you’re talking about anywhere, and since you started with ‘if i can remember correctly’, which means you probably can’t remember correctly and by not providing any sources your claim is already dead.
No developer wants to see their player base ruined over cheats, unless it’s an indie dev struggling with finances who made a horrible FPS that barely anyone plays.
As for the bigger companies, well, that’s too big of a risk just to make a bit more money on the side, as the consequences of being caught is that they’ll get fired and lose any and all income and end up being sued in the process by their former employer.
OP just doesn’t understand the context of “Known” when used here.
Blizzard finds a cheater.
Blizzard bans said cheater.
This cheater is now a KNOWN cheater.
Blizzard will now review logs to see who often grouped up with that cheater.
In the end this won’t really do a whole lot. Blizzard is trying to alienate them from “friends” I guess. Cheaters will cheat, it’s in their nature.
cheaters take a while to get caught, so if they find one and check their logs. And see them cheating in groups with other players consistently then they will all get their do.
it’s simple as that.
It’s has to be known. How can anyone ban unknown cheaters? U want blizzard randomly banning people to keep things fresh and exciting?
i guess they using legal hack such as cronus zen ?
Immediately jumping and catching 1 cheater, or waiting a bit and catching 2-5 cheaters?
If you pick the former, please never play a survival or resource management game in your life.
It means people who are known to group with cheaters will receive bans. If you queue with a cheater once or twice it can be written off. But if you queue with a rage hacker multiple times that’s queueing with known cheaters
then most ow2 streamers would be banned, because most of them aimbotting. Since blizzard cares only about money, they will never do that.
And how is one suppose to know if a “friend” is quietly cheating? It’s not like you ever see their death cam since you play on same team, yet Blizzard assumes you “know” just because you’re friended with that person. Not everyone brag around they are cheating.
This banning through proxy is stupid, just like all of it for mean words…
It’s like they don’t want anyone to be friends with or queue with regularly unless you absolutely know or trust that person. Ridiculous.
