Big 2024 and certain maps are still "widow or lose"

Havana, Circuit royale, and even reworked junkertown. It’s all the same still, especially in higher elos.

Whichever team has the better widow, just wins on the loading screen. Paris and HLC were better designed maps.

I don’t see enough people playing Sigma on Havana or Junkertown. He’s great for shutting down Widow just by throwing his barrier at her.

She’s not easy to dive with D.Va or Winston on these long sightline maps, but Doom works well. Also Kiriko.

My point is, it’s not just Widow that counters Widow. I had a tank yelling at us the other day that it was the DPS’s job to counter Widow as he refused to switch off Reinhardt on Gibraltar. It’s actually everyone’s job.

Havana, Circuit, Numbani and Dorado are currently under revision and the next mapreworkcycle is S13, so the next Season.

bro, S13 starts in about a month.

And the probability of getting one of those three in your next match is just 6,25% (if the matchmaker is not rigged. Its even lower if modes like Clash or Push are favored).
so get over it and show some patience.

Circuit royale and havana are literally #1 and #2 for worst doom maps possible.

He’s horrific on those maps.

The thing is the best you can do with sigma is slightly delay a kill. Widow’s will get kills regardless even in a sigma mirror. The maps are just horrifically designed to be all the way in the widow’s favor 100% of the time.

Oh yea can’t wait for a car to be added as cover!!! Btw… I listed junkertown. We’ve SEEN what their “revisions” are for these maps. Junkertown is still a widow map lmao.

Havana and circuit royale need to be destroyed and built from the ground up. The maps are awful in every way possible.

Gibraltar had major changes. Thats why its wait and see. We cannot judge the Reworks without seeing/play them first.

But complaining even before the reworks release and also exaggerating does not help anyone. Its just annoying for me and for you its wasted energy.
The Devs are working on the Reworks since march, so I expect that they are bigger reworks. Aaron Keller even mentioned the Widow Perch on Hanava 3rd and that they want to nerf it quite a bit but not remove it.

While I do not trust the Devs either, I atleast give them the benefit of the doubt.

When I play dps and we get to Havana I die a little inside. Whoever designed that map deserves a spot in hell

Right. It honestly changed nothing on Junkertown.

Doom is never a bad pick. Dude is opaf right now. My point is that the maps are designed to play differently on purpose. It’s not a problem unless people refuse to adapt to them. Widow won’t get anything done if everyone is involved in contesting her, which might be necessary on a long sightline map. Different play styles across maps is a good thing. They’re not supposed to just be skins for the levels.

You’re not incorrect. But when the maps boil down to “whoever has the better uncontestable ranged one shot hero wins the game” it’s a flat out design problem.

There’s no flank routes, there’s no real way to close the distance, there’s nothing. It’s just, hope and pray your widow is better.

Normally I would agree that dealing with the enemy picks

However, in practice Widow is only effectively countered by two things: herself and a full dive comp that can pop her before she can use her auto-aim escape.

Anything else is too little, too weak or simply ineffective.

The last time that the game had an effective Widow counter measure that wasnt mirror or Dive comp, it was Double Shields. And hitscan DPS mains campaigned for its complete removal.
