You miss a critical context if the only takeaway you have is to not leave games.
I understand where youre coming from, but, the penalty thats going to be worse than it already is in S10 will annoy many players. There should be a penalty, but not this strict. I shouldnt have to wait 15 mins after leaving only 2 games or something like that for the cause of something important in real life. And those that try to win in QP are absolute losers, unless theyre new players getting access to comp. Id say reduce rather than increase the penalty system.

They want us to “like it or leave it” but when it comes to their poor quality match and poor handling of bad acting players in this game. We are supposed to waste our time, but not waste the time of bad actors in this game.
If stomps were a rare occurrence and maybe 15% of the time the matches just weren’t viable. It’d be an unreasonable reason to leave.
With people leaving mid-match because players are feeding. I can understand why a person would want to leave a match. As it really isn’t even a “match” its just a cluttered mess of nothingness. I get a ton of those matches, and all a person can really do is burn out the clock, and it takes sometimes 20 or even 30 minutes just because the other team knows whats going on, and they want to draw out the match even longer just to farm it.
I can also fully understand that convenience play happens. and that means we are going to have players that just do not care. So it means we play with bad team mates.
But going and asking people to play Arcade, I think is a really bad idea of the “pro penalties” group. because there is much more to lose in Arcade than A quickplay match.
I guess if its going to be a thing. Than Quickplay Open Q should be put back into its own group. So leaving, and whatever else happens there, can happen.

I mean …I already play Arcade.The leaver penalties that started ratcheting up after season 2 were enough to just drive me completely out of QP/Unranked which is a shame as I actually think being able to play that mode with like-minded similarly-skilled players would be nice. I used to be a complete QP warrior in OW1 and it was great. but ever since this 2 came out…
The problem just became that those matches were just more and more rare the further we went along.
I absolutely HATE that there’s this mentality that QP/Unranked shoudlnt be taken seriously but we’re scum if we leave it. That is the most hypocritical BS ever.
Then don’t queue for a match if you know you’ve got something important to do in real life. Simple.
The penalties should be more severe IMHO.
It’ll be annoying to the bad players, who keep leaving games left right and center and i’m honestly ok with that.
Leaving is just as bad as the player feeding, just saying. You’re disrupting the game by leaving as well.

If you leave, then you’re not taking it seriously whatsoever and show a lack of discipline, and if you leave you’re disrupting the game. If you’re serious, you stick with it. If you’re not serious, you leave. You’re either serious, or you’re not, there is no maybe.

here’s why I leave
- I leave when MY TEAMMATES aren’t taking the match seriously which is usually what happens 99% of the time when I try to play QP. I get people who wont switch, wont group up, feed/trickle… you name it. I also get people who sass back in chat, go hard on the insults or threaten to report b/c me (and usually one other person) ask them to change something up. THEY are NOT taking the mode seriously. If they dont have to take the mode seriously, then WHY the HELL am I expected to? I dont want to waste my time in a match like that…so yes, I absolutely think I should be able to leave and NOT be punished for it. It was always my hope that the more people leave the more people get it through their thick skulls that MOST OF US WHO ONLY PLAY QP/UNRANKED WANT TO WIN. we’re not in there so you can sit on widow and hit zero shots the entire match or so you can learn how to play OW. If enough people keep leaving your matches…the message is supposed to get through TO YOU that you need to fix your game play. But oh no…people DONT want to do that…they’d rather push and push Blizz to accomodate them instead of trying to foster a better experience for everyone else.
I always switch when needed, I dont feed/trickle and I play objectives. I dont want to play with people who WONT do those things. Go through the tutorials, the game actually TEACHES you that THAT is how you play this game. If the matchmaker yes i know you hate this topic was actually working correctly then people who TRULY dont know how to play OW would NOT be in the same lobby as me since their MR/SR should be lower…but of course now we have this dogwater MM and it just puts whomever has a pulse in the same lobby and lets stacks run roughshod through teams all night.
- I leave when the game puts me against a bunch of t500 or otherwise obvious stacked up smurfs who wont let us out of spawn. Again, why the HELL do I have to stay for that?

If you dont have to play QP to win the match, then it is HYPOCRITICAL for you to require others who DO want to win, to then be forced to stay or risk punishment. I dont care what Blizard says on this topic. That is my opinion. You can’t have it both ways. Either you play QP all casual and let people drop in and out or you keep the leaver penalty but play the mode to win and stop using it as a personal practice field or a meme maker. Right now, there seems to ONLY be punishments for leavers but everyone else can just throw all day long–and i’m not even talking about the ones who are probably going to start doing it b/c they can’t leave–i’m talking about the ones who were doing it already …MAKING people leave.

I wont stay in matches in which there is ZERO chance a win will even happen. At this point, it has become way too easy to predict the outcome in a very short amount of time.

You’re just showing everyone WHY we need these penalties. Because of people like yourself, who leave at the first sign of someone not playing the game specifically how you want them to play.
Spawn camping is a part of the game and a legit strat. Me and my team use it whenever we can as well. If you can’t get out of spawn, then that’s a ‘you’ problem, because every spawn has 3 exits…
If you want to win, you try to win. You won’t win if you leave. That’s just a fact. However, if you do leave, you’re making sure the team is guaranteed to lose, depending on when you do leave the match.
You can report throwers under game play sabotage. It’s not hard or complicated…
The only thing that’s clear is that you can’t stand it when your arguments are being countered. If you can’t stand people countering your moot arguments or disagreeing with you in general, why are you even posting on a forum designed for debating? 
I can stand being countered when i’m proven wrong but really it just seems i’m being nitpicked and being “countered” by a “i dont agree, so there!” which isn’t a counter, it’s just us disagreeing.
Also, a lot of your alleged counterpoints are you just slinging mud at me. “I dont believe your’e diplomatic” —i literally dont give two flying rat’s behinds WHAT you believe; and when you start a setence like that, i just want to stop reading and put you on ignore. I start off nice to everyone whether you belive it or not. again, i dont care.
Furthermore, please dont insult me with suggesting I report for sabotage. Check all the “gotchas” under what Blizz considers NOT sabotage (hint: it’s all the behavior that most certainly IS sabotage, they just have no “automated” way to investigate it, so they just disregard it—great QA, eh?)
Until people in QP are actually held accountable for the way they play the mode and until the matchmaker can once again, be trusted that it’s respecting MR/SR when it builds teams and STOPS letting stacks go up against rando’s …I can’t support a leaver penalty. I’m of the mind that you have no justification for punishing players who are having a bad time and place all the blame squarely on them. I just named two of the worst offenses when it comes to how miserable QP can be, but no one wants to actually address it. (to be fair, i dont expect players in this forum to do so, I expect the game creators to do it)
Also, someone leaving a match is NOT a guranteed loss, but I can agree it will most likely SPEED UP a match that was already about to be a loss. /shrug.
I still think if you want less leavers, you need to play better…not just try to ban them all. You’ll end up with even less people to play with.
I think blizzards stance has always been against the “it’s just quick play” crowd who think it justifies soft throwing.
If you were better at the game you wouldn’t get stomped. Stop leaving games, I hope you get banned for 48 hours for continuously leaving games because you got diffed

You can still play some pretty quick games in quickplay. Looks like it really didn’t change much about quickplay at all then. So not only is the leaver penalty working but quickplay still allows you to play quick games.
Yes, it does depend on when people leave a match, but mostly if they leave past the halfway point, it’s a guaranteed loss.
No, if we want less leavers, we need harsher penalties, so that people learn not to leave, then they can take it from there.
We’ll see how things work out wiht s10 after it releases today.
That being said, i’ve suggested multiple times that they should just put leavers in a leavers only lobby until they’ve learned their lesson, though i somehow doubt that’ll happen. At least that would be far better and would mean that everyone can play regardless and leavers can play against other leavers and eventually leave those games, which is kind of a given.
People who complain about their teammates, then leave, are typically the problem themselves, but they just refuse to see it and accept it. So here we are.
I don’t leave games because I don’t get diffed and get big mad. Your teammates holding you back is a silver sr mindset

I will only believe that if you’ve got your own stack. If you do? good for you…but thats why your outlook on the game is so rosy.
Try being a casual solo q-er and play Qp/Uranked the entire day.
prove to me that you win more than you lose and prove to me that your entire team is on the ball in every match.
If you’re able to have fun when your teammates suck. That’s again, good for you. Not everyone else is like that.
Everyone has bad teammates. They don’t go away even in diamond plus. But if you were better you could carry, that’s how everyone has ever climbed in ranked unless they’re boosted

It also probably tells you how people actually climb in this game now that the playerbase isn’t as wide as it once was.
people leave due to lack of patience. Either way, the punishments or deterrents worked on me …i dont even go in there anymore. I dont have the patience for it. Problem solved

People leave the game for several reasons, but with intent to queue to another match shouldn’t. If the behavior becomes a pattern is a problem. Which they need to demote, otherwise the mode will become unplayable pretty fast.
If isn’t fun, you shouldn’t try to play the game, not on those modes anyways.
Queueing for a match in qp, which is a serious mode, shouldn’t foster that kind of behavior. Due most of it’s playerbase is in there and if gets certain leaver threholds becomes unplayble. Hurting majority of their players.
Is the game that not everyone wanted, but is the game we got. If isn’t fun, try something else or play other modes, your health will improve for sure.
