Beta Tester Info When?

I’ve had quite-a-freaking-nough of this company and their “Soon” BS. Being expected to just wonder forever if you got in or not is nonsense.

I really hope after is not the case

I understand that but complaining about getting access to an unfinished product isn’t really fair is it now.

I do share the sentiment, i would like some actual content.
Though this isn’t really part of any business model, so don’t expect them to put in all their effort for a beta.

During the OW1 beta they just dropped a tweet to say they have invited a new batch of people and if you got in you got an e-mail. I only got in the closed beta on the last stress test but it was a magical moment. Aaaaaah good times…

Negative players have a bias and may even sabotage the game by not reporting things they find.

I for one would not enlist the help of someone who openly says:

Prior to the beta coming out…

On one hand, expecting nothing ground-breaking is a good way to have a clear mind (and you can actually digest anything noteworthy in a critical manner). On the other hand, it could considered “doom and gloom” to some individuals.

Frankly, I fall into the former. It’s better to go into something with no real expectations than to “hype” oneself up and be underwhelmed by a product’s performance.

Expect nothing, so you can surprised when something happens. Personally, I find that better than clinging to hope, “hype,” and expectations.

I believe this to be the correct approach. For one it is a beta, it will have plenty of bugs and balancing issues. They aren’t releasing it because "hey, lets give some of our player base something new exciting and fun to do. They want you to find problems. Going into the beta with 0 expectations isn’t negative, it is logical. Having 0 expectations doesn’t mean you think the game will be trash. It just means you not hyping the game up only to be disappointed by the ample bugs you encounter.

Anytime a beta for a game comes out people say this and I never f’ing know why. Streamers getting access does not make everyone else not get access? Do people really think there are enough streamers to fully populate everything blizzard wants to test?

Even still WHY SHOULD blizzard treat content creators the exact same as normal players when 1. Content creation is free advertising for the new game and 2. Content creators literally do this for a job, if they do not get in their livelihood is going to go away or be significantly stunted.

There is no reason for blizzard to treat randoms on the forums the same way they treat dedicated content creators for their games.

IDK but I’m waiting to add “beta tester” to my linkedin to explain what I’ll be doing in 2022.
(Other than teaching my kids quantum teleportation protocols).

What would a negative player gain from that?

That sounds illogical…
Sabotage the game so they’ll dislike the game even more?
It would sound more logical if they were working on trying to fix the game.

Yes and that’s why you are not on their team.

You form an assumption without any logic behind it.

It’s literally an unfinished product, it would not be fair to complain about it not being good is what i’m saying.
Again, people are allowed to be hyped, though you can’t complain about an unfinished product you got special access to.

Just imagine complaining about such a thing…
Beta’s aren’t even that common for most games, so why should we treat it as an expectatiton?

It only shows a bad side of the community, which shouldn’t really be the case.
Yes, we are deprived of content.
No, we can’t complain about them taking precautions for releasing unfinished work that technically is a special privilege for us.

Yes exactly.

I’m not trying to say that people can’t enjoy it or that they aren’t allowed to be hyped.
Though it’s something that would normally not be done, it’s something special and unfinished.

So would you know why people would complain about having a beta being pushed a bit back?
I understand that people want content… but one wrong move and people can just literally mod the game however they want.

@WyomingMyst
TY for answering, I would hope that we don’t receive notice After it started, not unless it’s one of those “X and Y players haven’t redeemed it within X hours” kinda deals.

I take it you are still researching my second question about missing / opting in for future betas?

I don’t think there’s anything else we needed to know, so I ask that the thread be locked after this post, as it seems to have devolved into a bit of a mini argument rather than being constructive.

won’t matter, most of us wont get in, because we’re not streamers, influencers, nor top 100.

Imagine being this salty
