Battle pass is almost good now

This was never the issue with the game people keep saying this but they just straight up abandoned the game it had nothing to do with OW losing money they were still selling the game well after 4 years. They never updated it because they went to work on this half baked OW2.
OW players always amaze me they never want to take the side of the customer. You I’ve never seen a group of peoples that want the company to come up with more ways to take their money

God forbid you give the game 10 dollars for 10 skins and a bunch of other content

No dont worry ow2 presents a theme but then fills the pass with totally unrelated skins. Then they fill the shop with thematic related skins.

They usually do half and half. Ill admit its nice in the trailer that actually differentiated what was in pass and what was in shop, but i still dislike how the themed items aren’t all just in the pass.

Game still has 0 progression after BP. Skins are still $20 a pop.

They need a form of infinite progression. I was disappointed when they said they were “introducing a big update to progression” in s3 but it turned out to just be adding credits to the battle pass. That literally doesn’t address the issue with progression at all

In fact for the season 2 trailer, they presented the paid skins as if they were from the pass. I think it was close to false marketing at that point.

Sort of true, but there’s still usually a few skins similar in style to the theme, even though, yes, quite a few themed skins are separate purchase only.

The specifics are beside the point though-if the skins are uninteresting to someone or just not relevant to the characters they like to play, the pass loses most of its theoretical value. It’s a predictable issue in any game with multiple characters, but it does take momentum away from new seasons.

I will also say the skins that are off theme this season are actually good. Invisible man cree is cool, the rocker jq skin is cool… like last battle pass the off season skins literally just felt like they took shop skins that they didnt think would sell and just threw them in the battle pass

Conversely, the Botanist Ana skin last season was almost enough to get me to buy that pass, and this season the only skin I particular like is Sigma’s, but I don’t like playing Tanks much and never use Sigma.

My point, which I may not have made well enough, is that it’s very difficult to fulfill a broad range of player tastes/uses with a handful of skins in a game with dozens of characters, so “value” of the pass will generally be highly variable across the player base (at a given level of spending, of course).

Exactly. Especially given, there is a lot of people who just don’t like the japanese theme, and there were a lot of people i remember saying didn’t like the steampunk theme of s1; if all of the battle pass skins were of the theme, it wouldn’t appeal at all to those people.

Metaphors don’t have to mean that the two things being compared are of similar societal importance…

batlle pass is bad, a legendary skin for grinding the game 40 hours is not fun

IMO, the one change I’d make to the BP, is divide the currency and reward in the tiers. Since it shows currency on the preview image of tiers, but not the other item with it. Maybe split the image of the tier in half, to signify it has 2 rewards there?

And no heroes in it, of course.

another “sorry it should be free…period” post…move along

We’ve never had to do it before. (except OWL but who cares about that stuff, we just want regular game/event skins)

Why do we have to now?

I hate that the main progression feel is from the battle pass.
So to have a “better” feel of progression, you need the paid battle pass.
They could do better and until they implement something else, I wont accept it.

Fortnite disagrees.

Putting enough currency in the BP to get the next one almost guarantees the player will play enough to complete each one, raising engagement numbers which lowers queue times and gives people opponents to play against or teammates to play with.

A successful F2P realizes that part of their product is their players and those players need some sort of compensation to stay around and BE product as much as possible. Right now complete freeters get next to nothing in OW2. They need to fix that.

You know there’s people dying in an actual war right now, right?

Let’s not make light of their very real life-or-death traumatic situation by comparing it to a video game battle pass.
