I agree with this. I was referring to the voting process after the ideas had been compiled. Have Bastion mains go through the potential changes/rework ideas and once several have been narrowed out as approved then open the voting to the grander audience.

one of the problems is that Us bastion mains play in absolutely different styles and our proposals are just as varied. me personally i would want better range and some form of evasion buff.

Im fixing the storm water pump for my building, Sydney took a months worth of rain in one night in effect. SO im afk on and off for a while.

We kept all ideas on the document and voted based upon a rating system on a scale from one to five. The ideas with the highest average rating were the ones that got presented in the post.

A BIT OF A LORE - OR MY TAKE ON IT.

Bastion units at the height of production was most probably made with parts that were 2-3 generations older than at the time of production. This was most probably would have been to use hardware that Torb knew the bugs and quirks.

Bastion is so old he still runs on windows vista.

No wonder heā€™s not viableā€¦ that thing wasnā€™t good when it was brand newā€¦

old tech does not mean not being viable the most ā€œSuccessfulā€ Rifle in the world is the AK-47, by modern military standards it is extremely outdated but it plain works under all conditions with minimal maintenance.

Bastion units would have been designed with the same concepts.

Nowhere would be safe anymore because you could never know in what awkward angle Bastion is going to shred you.

Sentry Gun Laser Sight
Just as Lucio kept his song-circles to help teammates know where to stand to enjoy his speed boosts or healing, Bastionā€™s Sentry Gun should have a laser pointer to inform his teammates (but not his enemies) where his gun is aimed so that they know where they can expect his fire-support.
The safest place for Bastion to be is behind his allies and as high off the ground as possible, so the frontline can easily fail to realize where their Bastion is and what line of sight the Bastion can use to support them.
A laser pointer in Sentry Mode would help them to recognize when engaging an enemy team around a corner will leave them without a Bastionā€™s fire-support.
Mobility - A temporary increase in movement speed bound to an E ability
Overdrive
Cooldown: 10 seconds
Duration: 4 seconds
No cast time.
This ability will cause Bastion to move at twice his normal movement speed allowing him to quickly engage in a fight or quickly leave a losing battle.An important thing to note with this ability is that when itā€™s used in sentry form, you are immediately transformed into recon form and ready to retreat.
It would perform like a temporary Lucio speed aura, except it only works for you. Using your ability can help you get into positions quickly on control maps, for example. This would also be Bastionā€™s get out jail free card if he finds himself being dived on or focused heavily. In the situation of the dive scenario, you would use this to escape their dive as they use all their movement abilities trying to get to you before you re-engage.
Defense - A temporary increase in damage resistance bound to an E ability
Siege Tactics
Cooldown: 8 seconds
Duration: 2 seconds
No cast time.
With this ability, it would take the role of a Zarya bubble, or Reinhardt shield. It behaves similar to Orisaā€™s fortify ability, except Bastion wonā€™t be able to move, whereas Orisa can. When you activate it, your damage resistance is increased to 35% for the duration of the ability and you are immune to crowd control effects. Keep in mind this only lasts for 2 seconds though!
This will put Bastion into a more defensive role. The important part of this ability is that it gives Bastion the opportunity for counter-play to abilities like hook, sleep dart, and charge. In the situation of a dive, instead of trying to disengage, you will have to time this correctly to take on the full brunt of the assault. When the enemy D.va, for example, dives you, you should use it when she uses her micro missles. If you are lucky, you might get a Gengi to waste his dash during that period.

Bastion can counteract a dive as well as be more effective against tanks and barriers while using this. Since your spread will stay the same, squishies (or 200 health targets) will not be good targets because of all the potential damage youā€™d be wasting. They could also just avoid your attacks by using a movement ability or just disengaging and then youā€™d be left with few resources to prevent their subsequent attack. In the situation of a typical dive, this would be super effective when used against a diving Winston or D.va trying to get in your face.
As a side note, it also adds another layer of skill to the hero by introducing ammo management. Ammo isnā€™t typically a concern for the current bastion as he usually has more than enough ammo to last during an entire fight. You may often find yourself running out of ammo more often than usual! Reloading at inopportune times can cost you the fight or worse, the match.

Reduce the speed at which the Recon Rifleā€™s bloom expands, and/or increase the speed at which it recovers. If Bastion is supposed to have any reliable long-range weapon, and this is supposed to be Bastionā€™s only reliable long-range weapon, then it needs to actually be reliable. Between its inaccuracy and Bastionā€™s large hit-box, Bastion still wants to avoid using it, since thereā€™s no duel at any range which he can win in Recon.
And if Bastion isnā€™t supposed to have a reliable long-range weapon, then he needs one of the other proposed buffs.
CHANGE RECON (Rifle)
Shotgun
If the Sentry Gun and Recon Rifle arenā€™t going to be made any more reliable at long range, then consider replacing the rifle with a shotgun that gives him more self-defense at close-range.
BUFF RECON/SENTRY (Mobility and Positioning)
Horizontal
As a cool-down E ability in Recon Mode: Bastion transforms his legs into his tank treads, allowing him faster horizontal movement and the possibility of making farther jumps.
Either way, Bastion gains a little more ability to safely and quickly traverse the map, as well as to reach better firing positions for Sentry Mode, while still being less mobile than the other Defense heroes. This ability might also work in Tank Mode, or else Tank Mode might get a passive buff to speed.
Vertical
As a cool-down E ability in Recon Mode: Bastion climbs walls at half the speed of Genji or Hanzo, or fires grappling wires like Widowmaker which fly out just as fast, but which reel him up at half speed or less.
Either way, Bastion gains a little more ability to safely and quickly traverse the map, as well as to reach better firing positions for Sentry Mode, while still being less mobile than the other Defense heroes. This ability might also work in Tank Mode.
BUFF SENTRY (Resistance)
Anti-CC
As a cool-down E ability with short duration: in Sentry Mode, Bastion applies anchors to the ground which prevent him from being moved from that position or knocked out of Sentry form by abilities like Halt, Charge, or Hook. The cooldown for this ability doesnā€™t start until he leaves Sentry Mode.
This buff could be packaged together with the grapple-wire idea proposed for Vertical Mobility.
BUFF SENTRY (Burst DPS)
Rockets
As an E Ability that doesnā€™t go on cooldown until Bastion leaves Sentry Form. Either something quick like Soldier:76ā€™s Helix Rockets or slow like D.Vaā€™s Micro-Rockets, but either way, it gives Bastion back some of the linear, long-range killing power he lost.
Railgun
As an E Ability that doesnā€™t go on cooldown until Bastion leaves Sentry Form. Most similar to Helix Rockets, but trades small AOE explosion for hitscan.
Could possibly have a ā€œkickā€ powerful enough to knock Bastion back and instantly out of Sentry Mode.
REWORK SENTRY (Mobility)
Hovercraft
As a way to address complaints that Bastion is ā€œtoo immobileā€ for the game that Overwatch evolved into, how about this?
Sentry Turret loses Ironclad but gains the ability to slowly drift around, with no ability to jump. Thereā€™s a slight delay before Bastion begins to shoot, as first he needs to stop hovering and drop to the ground (lore-wise) ā€œfor the traction needed to handle the Sentry cannonā€™s recoilā€. (This is also the lore reason why Tank Cannon forces Tank Mode to use treads instead of hover machines.)
Hovercraft mode can crouch, which sets Bastion down without needing to shoot, allowing Bastion to shoot immediately upon clicking the Primary Fire button.
This brings Bastion more into line with Orisa and Hammond, who sacrifice speed when they want to shoot at things. It gives Bastion some means of potentially escaping from corner-peaking Hanzos instead of slowly (or quickly) dying without a chance to counter-play.
BUFF SENTRY/TANK (Toughness)
Ironclad
Apply Ironclad as soon as transformation to Sentry or Tank Mode begins; increase Ironclad percentage for Tank Mode to 30%.
Armor
Remove Ironclad, bring back bonus armor that applies as soon as transformation begins; apply lesser armor bonus to Sentry.
BUFF TANK (Toughness)
No Self-Damage
Remove self-damage from Tank Mode shots. This is a minor buff which can be applied together with any other buff on this list.
Bastionā€™s Tank Mode accuracy beyond short range is horrible, Bastion canā€™t gain altitude like Pharah and Junkrat, and Junkrat doesnā€™t even take self-damage from any of his explosives anymore. No one should need to master Rocket Jumping to make an Ultimate somewhat useful.
BUFF TANK (Accuracy)
Projectile or Reticle Size
Increase the hit-box size of Bastionā€™s tank projectiles to something much larger than a tiny bullet, such that clipping someone or something with the animated projectile will trigger its explosion. Currently, you can miss anything by a hair as the projectile clips through it and keeps sailing far past your target.
Or at the very least, remove the large hexagon around Bastionā€™s tank-mode reticle ā€“ itā€™s deceptively large and inaccurate.
BUFF TANK (Unpredictability)
Abort Ultimate like McCree
Allow Bastion to end Tank Mode prematurely by pressing Shift to enter Sentry Mode, just as McCree can prematurely end his own Ultimate when he needs a faster firing rate.
Variable Ultimate Duration
Change the duration of Tank Mode so that the Ultimate does not end until Bastion has fired a certain number of shots, so that Bastion may continue to behave like an ambush predator by laying in wait for preyā€¦ and allow Bastion to end Tank Mode prematurely by pressing Shift to enter Sentry Mode, just as McCree can end his own Ultimate.
BUFF TANK (Flexibility)
Additional Ultimate Mode: Artillery
Give Bastionā€™s Ultimate an additional, immobile Mortar Mode as an analogue to Sentry Mode, which fires the explosive shells in an arc that can clear walls and land on roofs, like Junkratā€™s primary fire.
Tank:
30-35% IC on tank (this would be fine as his ult only lasts 8 seconds)
First shot bug fixed
IC is applied BEFORE he transforms, not after, like how old armor used to work

First some life improvement for him :
When Bastion get stun when transforming he get kick off the Sentry form even if you are at 99% of finish the transformation. Its really annoying to get punch on a wall when you were totally entering the Sentry form.
So a small nerf to the stun mechanic on Bastion during the transformation time will be nice, like when you reach 0.5 seconds of transforming time and get stun this donā€™t kick you off he Sentry form.
I also want Bastion to sleep in Sentry form, Its totally unfair for him, if he doesnā€™t move why make him more vulnerable ?
Also there is a bug who trigger me, when youā€™re in a corner with a wall behind you in Sentry, Doomfist can rocket punch you because of the small hitbox movement against the wall when he knock back you of 1cm which is considered a direct hit on a wall even if Bastion doesnā€™t move . . .
Sentry Change :
Actually a Bastion can permanently shoot during 10 seconds without stopping.
And then need to reload during 2 seconds.
Deleting the Ammo count and make an special ā€œOverheatā€ thing for him like :
Bastion can permanently shoot during 6.66 seconds without stopping and then the canon chill during 6.66 seconds.
Everytime Bastion stop shooting the ā€œOverheat indicatorā€ will go down, example if youā€™re shooting during 3 seconds the ā€œOverheat indicatorā€ will be at zero in 3 seconds.
If press the reload key, Bastion will chill during 2 seconds (even if you have a low overheat indicator), but bastion will no longer be able to fire during the chilling time.
If Bastion is Overheated he will automaticly chill with some cooling song and a freezing smoke effect.
This system will be a buff for him because your passive regenerate some fire time without making his dmg on shield better.
Also make the spread 2Ā° and add headshots.
Self-repair :
The Self-repair actually start 0.5sec after you push the button. Make it start healing you immediatly will be a nice life improvement for him.
Increase the healing generator by 25%, due to Bastion big hitbox, he take a lot of poke make him a more healing capable will be good for flanking the enemy and then hide your self like an hunting Bastion.
Bastion new ability ? :
I was thinking for a moment, Bastion need a new ability in my rework, like some more damage thing but this will still the same Bastion with the same problems of lack of mobility ā€¦
E produces a temperary shield? Either that or have him move slightly faster than a payload while in Turret

And another possible idea to add to it could be to have his damage dependent on his heat level. So like 15 damage when between [0%, 33%], 13 damage when between (33%, 66%], and 11 damage (66%, 100%). That does kinda eat away at his barrier breaking potential though, which probably isnā€™t a great ideaā€¦
