Are people actually doing this? Or is this the same Brigitte story where people arbitrarily listed her low DPS and completely ignored that she was still one of the easiest ways to kill a squishy character with her combo, her Roadhog hp sized shield and her ridiculous interactions with armor and self heal?
I don’t think Bap should be nerfed because he isn’t currently statistically outperforming yet(let’s wait and see what next patch brings), but for the people making comparisons to Soldier they’re not too far from the truth.
Baptiste is currently in the situation that Brig was in where he basically would be a more desired pick in a DPS slot than Soldier 76 is if we could substitute the two. Just like how people substituted a DPS slot to pick Brig. Helix rocket, sprint, biotic field and the headshot DPS is just straight up inferior to the utility that being able to heal, immortality field and exo boots bring. If OWL teams could run Soldier or Bap in a slot, they would choose Bap hands down.
I will fully concede that it’s not the same situation as Brig because she invalidated multiple DPS characters instead of just 1(soldier) and because we have 2-2-2 role queue so he can’t be substituted. But if he could be he’s a superior pick to Soldier basically.
Because it is trash damage inflated by the barrier meta that we’re in. Moira is going to go back to where she was before and direct damage is going to become infinitely more useful again. Direct damage in breaking down the nerfed barriers and inputting damage on unshielded targets.
EVERY balance discussion is an opinion discussion. Which is my point entire point, whether we are going on stats, how things feel, pro play, whatever. We have these discussions on the forums and it’s a “witch hunt” only if it involves a support or off-meta character like Torb/Sym.
These same conversations are had about Tracer/Genji/Doomfist/Orisa/Widow etc but it’s not a witch hunt for them.
