Baptiste has a great personality I can already see a ton of nuance in his character.
I think all of the heroes are well designed, albeit lacking in lore + background.
If anything, I wish that more heroes felt as grounded as Baptiste. Is Lucio a rebel or a sweet musical boy? Does Pharah have any greater drives or aspirations? I could totally see Baptiste walking away from Talon, traveling the world and healing/fighting people he meets on the way, like a medic version of Mccree. I can picture his story!
I agree though that unlike Junkrat and Lucio, Baptiste isn’t a walking cartoon.
Eh, I kinda like it compared to the roster that has way too many people with a “sadtimes backstory” to brood over (Ana, Reaper, Winston, Genji, Hanzo, Widowmaker, and to a lesser extent D.Va, Roadhog, and Tracer). That’s what I like about Ashe. Even though there’s a tinge of “Mommy and Daddy weren’t there for me”, as a whole Ashe is just a brat with a gun, and that’s okay.
Yah but its really weird imagining him say in his backstory that he did a lot of horrible things to survive with the next moment going “Thank you Baptiste”.
You know, he might be a sociopath now that I think about it.

Also the dude has an extremely cheerful view on death. Like almost disturbingly so. His personality is not out of line from the last few releases. Ashe is a massive stereotype with twang in her voice, and Hammonds hard as heck to figure out. All I can tell is he has a cruel streek, is selfish, and impatient. Not a whole lot of personality.
He’s got the super suave personality. “Can I buy you a drink?” His flashy smile. He’s literally what a lot of people asked for on the forums: a husbando main support.
I feel like a lot of lore on darker heroes is just unseen fluff that gets toned down. For example, Roadhog is often described as a vicious and brutal murderer, even sporting a line “I’ve killed someone for less than that!”, but in his comic he lets potential bandits leave with their lives. (though not before surrendering their guns and money)
He’s got an attitude.
He’s a bit vain. He’s a bit cocky. He stands up for what’s right. He left Talon after finding out what they actually do. This is all personality.
Well it is rated T. It’s all implied really. Roadhog is kinda special. He was an honorable guy at one point after all. I doubt when one starts to lose their sanity they just go all rabid.
He prob has phases where he’s a decent guy and others where he snaps and devolves into his new persona.
Interesting take - I mentioned something a while back that maybe we as the audience don’t fully understand what Talon is yet.
They are coming off like “Team Rocket” but considering all of their connections, they could easily have a noticeable and decent public face. (Plus, Sanjay being a part of Vishkar means that there may be even more people unknowingly working in Talon’s favor). Maybe in the public eyes, Talon appears as just another paramilitary group that actually does good (like Pharah’s Helix group) and only when you rise up in the rank do you realize that they have far darker plots.
I hope we find more people connected to Talon that aren’t wrapped up in the inner circle, living normal lives and believing they are working for positive changes.
You ain’t mistaken. There’s literally nothing interesting about that character. It’s also virtually the only hero in the game I have no desire to play whatsoever. The only reason why I pick him is because I want to keep the hours on my other supports in a particular fashion and I don’t want to upset the natural order that my profile is.
IMO Baptiste is pretty sassy! lol
Love his voicelines:
“I recommend not dying (sarcastic tone)”
“thank you Baptiste… oh… your welcome!”
And his whole personality turns around him being confident of his skills in battle, also, has some interesting interaction with other heroes at the spawn.
What about Pharah!!! LOL like… she is not so special when it comes to personality… no distinct personanilty actually.
