A lot of people have noted how much it sucks to queue for a game, then have a leaver before the first 2 minutes are up.
What if instead of canceling the match:
- You were allowed to continue playing.
- They backfilled the missing player.
- Then the match resets, everybody back to spawnrooms, with zero seconds on the clock.
- Also, shuffle teams, so it feels like a proper reset.
I can’t really see any downside to this.
- It would prevent 11 people from having to re-queue for games.
- All with queue times that are probably significantly larger than ~30-90seconds.

Id be for it. Though the backfiller would need adjustments to SR since the other people could have play 1:59 minutes of previous round on that same map and the backfiller would not have the synergy.

How much synergy can you really build up in 120 seconds or less?
Well if it was a steamroll the first time and they leaver left cause of it, clearly there was some and the 5 people you joined might be more concerned with placing blame and griping about another steamroll rather then fixing the problem.
To be fair, the team that got steamrolled could just run a counter-comp to whatever steamrolled them
No more element of surprise.
Synergy in ranked is a joke. You’re playing with five other random people. You’re not gonna have any synergy unless you’re in a six stack with people you’ve played with for ages.

It could work, but I think simply placing people at the top of the queue for an entirely new match is still a less risky solution.
Sometimes it’s just disconnects, but other times someone leaves the match in the first two minutes when they don’t like what they see. Throwing another random person into the same potential situation would feel really bad.
Nobody wants to get back filled into a competitive game where everyone is already yelling at each other for something you entirely missed. Just cancel the match, but auto-queue with top priority is all they need to do.

I think it would be faster and more emotionally fulfilling though, to do the idea posted up top.
Especially since you get to mess around and shoot stuff, without tons of loading screens.
And even if you factor in loading screens alone, that could take a long time, if you have to go off the slowest loader.
And loading for consoles is more problematic.
so one person bails, and the other 11 just stick around in a skirmish for a minute instead of needing to re-queue?
sign me right up, sounds like a great anti-frustration feature for dps players and their 15 minute queues

Realistically, the worst that can do is cause a 4 minute wait.
And it would get tons of reports.
And both players doing it would lose 50SR, and get suspended from Comp
Assuming each person leaving resets the 2m timer…
Each person waiting 1m 55s before they leave
5 x 1:55 is definitely longer than 4m

On top of which, if an enemy team pulled off a crazy strategy.
Your team could just run a bunch of counters to that strategy.
Yeah no. Also, this could be easily abused.
There’s reason why people hate backfill / beeing backfilled in friiking qp.
There’s no friiking way that this is the most ‘‘brilliant ideas’’ of bring that into ranked.
This is propably one of the worst ideas you’ve ever suggested so far no offense.

Or seems like you should’ve thought how it’d really go if it was a thing before posting this idea of yours.
