I find Lucio/Mercy to be about the same level of effort. Lucio does so many things at the same time that generate value while Mercy can only do a couple. They generate value in different areas, but the value you bring to say speed boosting an entire reaper/rein or rama/mei team is very good. I dont’ play him all the time, but found enough for 70hrs worth. Even the value you get for booping an enemy team back a corner and speeding your team away to avoid pursuit denies a lot of kill attempts.
Along with the huge value you get for getting to control points first to catch the enemy team at choke points before point unlocks gives massive first point advantage to team fights. Lucio and Mercy for me are sharing the same 54-55% win rate I like never practice lucio at all.
Nah, the TTK in overwatch was a dev situation. If you look at hp values and gun values for Valorant to Overwatch, they have similar fire rate guns, but valorant is like 2x the dmg, and 1/2 the hp pool. So, TTK is 4 times faster and healing is limited.
Healing lets overwatch design asymmetrical maps designs like hybrid and payload while also letting teams ebb and flow by chasing you to your teams spawn and being able to keep a fight going. Healing is much larger on other units while also being easy to use. Bap/Moira/Kiriko healing is equally easy as Mercy, but even stronger. Yeah, you can try to kill those three as well, but let’s not joke ourselves into thinking Mercy’s consistent healing is the only outlier.
Healing is what makes OVerwatch a team game. DPS and tanks are reliant upon supports to keep them up. Team plays are made when you 2v1 the right target. You distract supports to kill them causing DPS or tanks to have to support them. Healing being strong makes the game less of a everyone play your own lone wolf nonsense into maybe you should care about the state of your team.
Those are much different games.
The guns themselves speak for the rest of the game with abilities becoming flavor for the way a player plays.
TTK in Valorant is tied closer to CSGO and COD. While Overwatch is better tied to Paladins, with it being faster paced.
But fast paced shouldn’t mean getting deleted.
I think it’s funny how people describe Mercy as a parasite, when that’s not what the word means at all.
Because for them Mercy is “stealing” their glory. Even while having Mercy on you is beneficial, so she is symbiote, rather than parasite.

Mercy latches onto a living being. Benefits from their activity of just existsing.
Yup sounds like a parasite.
Minimal actions while latched on. Sounds like a parasite.
Pays attention to nothing almost entitrly. Parasite.
Has super annoying measures to avoid death and survive longer. Parasite.
Promotes multiplicating of further dangerous entities. Parasite.
Never thought I’d find so many similar things with Mercy and a tick. But it all makes sense.
Sounds like someone clearly didn’t study biology.
Host doesn’t benefit from parasites.

Imagine if there was an actual parasite support that could beam enemies (with full lock, not soft lock) to damage them or reduce their damage done. People who hate Mercy would go absolutely nuts lol.
I imagine support with genetically engineered spiders, that latch onto enemies and drain their health, and if one dies, spider revives one’s body in zombie-like state.

Someone needs to study more. Because many parasites induce their hosts with specific chemicals so they don’t feel the bite or to prolong the host so they benefit more and longer.
You can call Mercy parasite, when she would actively drain health of her teammates to regain her own, but until then, she is not.

Holy crud…revelation! Mercy is designed anf inspired by the Medic from TF2. Who is clearly parastic in his behavior. He uses his teammates not only as personal bodyguards, but also as test subjects.
Eventually Mercy teammates come to a horrible death because everyone expects a Mercy to latch onto them. This mentally of always desiring a Mercy leads to further deaths vua reckless abandon and suicidal tendencies when a Mercy is not present.
Makes so much sense now since some parasites are drug like as well.
Mercy kit was based off a parasite from Project Titan. Because what praytell is an angel doing with a beam tether and not some lingering light effect? Not anything paladin, cleric, or priest like ever uses such means to support followers.
She also never calls for the belief of anything.
Then this explains why the meme of Mercy being evil is so effective.
Mercy was originally a patasite type hero but got reconstructed to look more player friendly.
Again, not even close. He ensures, that his teammates remain what they are - killing machines, and he pushes them beyond their normal limits.
Mercy is no more evil, than doctor saving someone you tried to kill. No doubt, many unlucky wannabe assassins are very unhappy, if their victim was pulled from the edge of death by competent doctor.
Stuffing a mega baboon heart into someone is highly unethical.
The man carries a bonesaw as a sword. That, sir, is a medical tool! Not a self defense weapon!
When said heart makes your teammate invulnerable, we can let it slide. You can complain about his unethical methods of operating on his teammates, though.
Anything is a self defense weapon, if you use it that way. Even fish wrapped in newspaper Scout beats his victims with.
If tool is designed to cut through human bones and flesh, it’s not even self-defense - just improvised surgery.
No legally…self defense weapons minimize a threat and incapacitates them. Anything that kills is deemed a murder weapon.
Guns are considered self defense for extreme cases as a last line of defense.
Medic lost his medical license anyway, and like other mercenaries, isn’t bound by Geneva convention.
TF2 Engineer will make everyone’s hair stand up, due to how unethical his tech is. Fully autonomous, AI-controlled powerhouse of a sentry gun? Teleport, that literally disassembles people and assembles them back at the exit(while also turning bread into giant bread monster)?

You went too far with all that wasted bread.
You are clearly a menance to society the same as Mercy!
It’s canon, that teleporting bread for 3 days = giant bread monster, that requires bomb to be put down.
Medic was kind enough to remove part of Demoman’s brain, that is responsible for asking to heal his missing eye. As every Halloween that missing eye would turn into big flying eye monster and try to kill everyone. Unfortunately, even Medic can’t remove magical curses.

Since this is such a semantics on a definition that started it I find it amusing that there are three terms.
Mutualism. Both benefit.
Commensalism. One benefits and host is neither harmed nor helped.
Parasitism. One benefits and harms the host.
Mercy really does fit into the mutualism because the host gains the benefits of healing and damage boosting with occasional ability to not get fired upon because Mercy is providing a tantalizing target to go after instead. While Mercy benefits from getting protection, a target form which to fly off of and gets self healing mid combat when healing.
