I absolutely agree with this statement. Console players are already at a disadvantage using a controller. I started playing Overwatch on console and migrated to PC once I started playing more seriously. Many characters, including those who require precision combos (i.e. Genji), are notably more difficult to play on console simply because it is more challenging to execute those combos with a controller. That being said, I think it is unfair that heroes like ashe would likely be easier to play with a controller considering the effect aim assist plays into hitscan roles. I truly think a middle ground needs to be estabilshed to give console players more viability in cross-play games. (I would propose a somewhat weaker aim assist when in crossplay; it wouldn’t be overpowering but it would also give aim based heroes some sort of viability).
I haven’t play OW on my Switch in a while, I might try it to see what console players experience.
Then just opt out of crossplay.
What about the fact that if a console player only has a 3 stack lets say, and 1 of them is PC, then in order to get a game, logically, they would get put with solo que people to fill in.
Disable crossplay… ez fix
I find the opposite experience actually. I’ve had an endless lose streak when solo qing on PC, even with console players in my game and even if they’re on the enemy team.
When I q’d with some console players last night, we absolutely rolled and it was THE most fun game I’ve ever had, despite being on 300 ping.
That is not the point. The point is that if we allow aim assist on crossplay, me and 12 thousand other PC players will simply connect our KBM’s to our consoles and play the game just like we have played it before except now with aim assist too. So not only would those PC players make those insane flicks and enjoy the better mechanical experience, they would now also be massively buffed with the aim assist too raising the gap even further with the only losers being those who just stick to the PC regardless
So in short: It’s simply not an option.
I’m an Xbox player and I don’t have any pc friends, but I played in pc lobbies for a day because my friend has a friend on pc. I just played mercy so that it didn’t matter that I didn’t have aim assist…I saw some questionable aim from some of the pc players though, there was a McCree that couldn’t hit a single shot from just the other side of Ilios well I probably could have hit at least a couple shots with just the thumb stick and no aim assist
This whole cross-region, cross-platform story naturally fits in some ways with the narrative of being inclusive and connecting people by selling them epic entertainment.
Blizzard should go back to being a game developer and invest less in marketing and PR.
Good intentions, but failed in implementation.
According to the crossplay FAQ those slots should get filled exclusively with PC players.
So far I haven’t seen anyone posting a screenshot to prove, that they got matched with PC players as a Solo Q console player
Umm… I don’t think so. How did you know they were pc players?
It’s just a beta for cross play, they’ll get the kinks worked out
A lot of people complaining about crossplay seem to have 0 knowledge of how it actually works. They assume it’s just every system thrown in together.
For consoles (aside from bugs) it has no downside, it expands the player base dramatically and you never have to see those scary pc players. I’ve actually been playing on Switch for the first time in ages because it has reasonable queues now.
Console crossplay is really all that’s needed. Shoehorning them into PC just isn’t going to work, even if they had aim bots back.
I play on both, my console friends and I(who have a way into the PC pool via me) just stick to console crossplay. Que times are way way down and it’s the exact same game it’s always been. There are literally no drawbacks. PC players are the only ones getting shafted and for those spiteful people who just hate PC players and want to ruin their game, isn’t that enough for you?
Personally, give console kbm, matchmake based on input method, give PC players opt out and the system will be perfect. Console players have all their dreams fulfilled and PC players don’t have to carry the dead weight of a controller player.
The first few nights the standard of proof in my group was getting rolled. My friends were convinced that we were up against pc players, but prior to crossplay any widow that can pop a head is instantly a smurf. And any loss is a random teammates fault. I love my friends but do we see a pattern developing. You probably will not be surprised to learn they are low silver to low gold and have never climbed. Crossplay is just the freshest excuse to avoid accountability and improvement.
You mean besides not being able to play with my friends who play on PC.
So what? Unlike PC players X-Box Players get the choice if they want to play with PC or not.
I mean atleast Nintendo’s and Playstation’s justifies the price, Xbox’s has been mostly the same since the 360 besides the shape.
when i play on console thats how i have it (aim assist) where you cant really feel it like its not there lol. but when its not its like you have 100 sens on if you dont know what that is then in mouse its like 10k dpi imagine playing like that all game long when you in a lobby of pc pool.
