Arm aiming vs wrist

little late on that post slick, but ya you are right… don’t take my word for it, or any GM.

Btw why don’t you post on your main account instead of your smurf account?

I don’t take what low levels say for a reason, because 1/2 of them are smurfs and just looking to troll, or are stuck in elo hell so badly they can’t gain anymore rank without smurfing.

Call me when you get 7000 games experience in the game or log in to your main account so I can consider what you say more reasonably.

Ana has a bigger hitbox on allies than she does on enemies. You can hit allies when the dart didn’t actually make contact. This helps aiming when trying to hit a difficult target (at most ranges, you can hit any teammate in the triangle of your scope), but hurts by making aiming around allies difficult due larger bodies to aim around, and the exact area is invisible. Kinda like aiming around a Genji deflect, but the invisible area is actually reasonable to estimate.

Well, I believe arm aim to be more accurate… but after working really hard to learn to aim with my arm I discovered it really starts to bother my shoulder after a long play session. Do what’s comfortable man.

I don’t think there is a best way to do anything, i’ve seen so many different styles that is hard to say that one is better. The best thing i can say i to do whatever feels more comfortable. I use a 5 sens with 800 DPI setting and what i do is that i aim with my wrist but make drastic movements with my arm. I don’t actually use my arm to aim, because the arm is not actually precise, for precision you need the wrist maybe even the fingers.

The only scenario where the arm can actually be precise is with extremely low sensitivities, which require huge mouse pads, for example look at Ryujehong videos, he uses a very low sens and he moves his arm through all the mouse pad and he is pretty good. But if you look at Surefour he uses a higher sens and uses his wrist a lot. The most extreme case i think would be Pine, the korean player, his sens AFAIK is surprisingly high for a hitscan player, i couldn’t believe the sens that he uses, but he makes it work somehow lol.

“junkrat, mei and widow” don’t just cherry pick. also he did hit shots like specific rebounds he was going for, which is a new dimension of aim the rest of us aren’t used to

Just make sure you stretch between sessions, don’t want to get tendonitis, tennis elbow, or carpal tunnel now, trust me its not fun.

You normally have low sense and use arm/elbow for crosshair placement. Then wrist for precision.
In Q3 people used low sens with a bit of mouse accel but thats not an ingame option here so, risky business.

With a small mouse pad you’ll probably be forced to use less arm movement/higher sens. A lot of people also use finger movement for even finer adjustments.

Aiming? What’s that? lol

Generally speaking, arm aiming is better. It’s healthier, as you reduce risk of injuring your wrist over time. Also, it’s a lot easier to be more precise with lower sensitivity, which usually requires arm aiming. People can and do succeed with both wrist aiming and arm aiming, but just because you can find exceptions to a rule doesn’t mean it doesn’t typically hold true. There is a reason most professional players use arm aiming.

P.S. please don’t cite a random pro who uses high sensitivity. I understand that a few do. I’m not saying you can’t use high sensitivity/wrist aiming and be successful with it.

Of course it matters. Or else can’t get those exact rebounds. Take out Mercy and Pharah in the sky.

I’ve had people shocked at the amount of movement I do.

there might be a risk of carpal tunnel developing on wrist aiming but it’s a hard habit to get rid of

It’s mostly preference, and in some situations you simply don’t have the gear of it like myself.
My desk is too small for a large mouse pad so I have to do wrist movement but I have gotten used to it.
I do plan on getting a bigger desk so I can actually make the space, I mean my dual monitors on this tiny thing I have now barely fit on it.

I would say it’s Mostly in the wrist… Let alone the Right Thumb.

Oh, wait… I’m a console Player…

(Real Answer: I actually personally do Arm Aiming, But Wrist Aiming when Scoped on any given hero…)
