In 2016 I was 18 and had fast reflexes, but 10 years later at 28yo and I’m a bit slower, so I think I’m passed my prime. How about you?
27 yo here. Some days I feel like I’m getting worse.
imagine what it will be like once you get into your 50’s. Sometimes its downright lethargic lol
Sadly yes well past my prime!
It’s why I retired to go pro in Palworld instead!

How is Palworld? I’ve never played it.
I’ve never played it either but it looks right up my alley!
Still trying to decide whether to get it on Mac App Store or Steam!

Palworld looks really fun
I feel like this is an impossible question to answer because.. the hard pill to swallow is, the game has been getting faster and faster over the years.
The time to kill in the game is a fraction of what it was when I started playing.
Can I really be past my prime if I never hit my stride?
Dear gamer..
I am past being prime, but I am well into Prime Rib.
Aged. Fatty. DELICIOUS.
I was never a contender for the top ranks though, so it’s not like I’ve lost anything.
I’d counter argue that there is no such thing as being in your prime, because even when you’re younger with faster reflexes, your decision making is going to be years behind where it is now.
I still hit team sized shatters, I still predict plays and outplay those faster newer players. I can’t hit every shot, because.. again, the game is getting faster with no signs of stopping and even the pros can’t hit good shots half the time anymore, but.. I’d argue we’re all better than we were.
lmao yeah, i’m insane 4 my age wish I was younger i’d farm all you kids
This seems to be true.
well, there is a reason i play moira a lot. also sombra is pretty good for us boomers (compared to tracer)
but yea maybe my obsession with widowmaker must stop
It’s also the case that we can’t value ourselves on reaction times or speed like this. My “best” was when I was overdosing on caffeine, and horribly ill. I was fast at games, sure, but that was the worst time in my life.
lol Im 39 and masters. Just eat well keep your mind sharp. In fact just playing video games like ow will keep your mind in good shape. The nice thing about overwatch is this isn’t a game that’s all about reaction time. It’s about playing smart, managing your cds well, and positioning to give yourself an advantage in every fight. Seagull is 34 and still cracked. In fact there’s probably plenty of quake veterans in their 40s and 50s who’d wipe the floor with anyone on these forums. Don’t believe me? Go play quake arena, you won’t last a day.
There’s been several developers who’ve tried to bring back quake but they always flop cause veterans are so damn good at the game and genz can’t handle beat downs like us millennials
cause they already got beat down mentally by social media their whole lives.
16, the day I decided to start drinking to get drunk and party with friends was when I was passed my prime.
Used to be a solid gamer until Alcohol consumption began. Wrecks the brain.
This is true. Watching younger people play they have massive egos, fast reaction time, obsessed with genji, and dumb as rocks. They’re always the ones ulting 1v6 and then blame the tank when they lose.
Yeah, I just have this fixation with Ana. Im probably not quick enough to play someone who requires twitch aiming, anymore, but I still like playing her, and sometimes, I do alright.
THIS.
I see so many new players, especially coming over from Rivals.. thinking they can do anything, while they only know the movesets and abilities of a handful of heroes. And then they rage and say “I dunno what happened” when they lose to things I can narrate as they happen.. because the cooldowns are basic things you can predict, and the reactions are drilled into long standing players.
