If this still needs time to be fixed, then fine. But in the meantime, early leaver penalties have to be removed. Like, yeah it might result in some trolls dropping early, but the alternative is that a lot of people are being punished and not allowed to play the game for hours due to a glitch, and if those penalties are a part of our permanent record? That is utterly unacceptable.

because they are failing to use the temp fix due to their own neglect

That’s great and when are you fixing the leavers penalties that ocurred because of this, so that everything goes back to normal? Fixing the bug itself is one thing but fixing the retroactive impacts is the other side of this coin. That’s what we’re always asked to do when working in IT and development, if I may.
