Every tank?
Dva just flys in with her rockets and shield. By the time she is done, bastion is out of his tank mode
Roadhog, hook him.
Sig absorbs or blocks, gets in close to pound him
Zarya…well poor bastion.

Just like when you spot any character, you gotta point out the threat, and play around him. Just like you don’t feed the Zarya, or don’t take tight choke flanks against Junkrat, you DO NOT stand in front of the Bastion, or let him stick around too long. He’s a big target, so, show him why having a big hurtbox in this game is a painful thing
You can basically treat him like a close-range Widowmaker. Pay attention to the kind of line of sight you’re stepping into, use cover, burst him if he’s out of position, so on, so forth
I posted a topic about lots of people leaving games yesterday and it seemed that it was related to most games having widow and/or bastion - more than usual. But today it is very obvious that bastion is leading to people leaving early, especially tanks. Generally immediately after they die in the first fight to bastion then leave.
Other heroes that have I’ve noticed this with are pharmercy, widow and sombra. This is, obviously, a low elo problem and only in QP. It is very noticeably worse than it was a week ago. Most leavers are supports (other than the bastion case where it is tanks) because they can get right into a more fun game without waiting I guess.
Some heroes really suck the fun out of OW.
No, we can not agree that bastion is OP, he is barely d tier.
I’m not even going to argue this. He literally melts anything he looks at in tank form. It’s essentially an ultimate move every 12 seconds.
LoS him, time to learn to stick to natural cover rather than be hanging out in the open all the time.
Watch any diamond+ match, everyone sticks close to where they can easily break line of sight as soon as they are fired at. Even tanks.
The biggest advantage of sojourn/genji/sombra is that they are not hampered by breaking los, they have ways around it. Bastion gets hamstrung by his slow speed in turret form because of this.
Just switch to Zarya, she nearly counters everything.
Literally just break LoS for 6 seconds, then he’s an easy kill after that. He has a decently sized hitbox and no self heal anymore. Outside of Tank mode, he’s just a worse Solider, imo (no heal, no movement ability, etc).
He gets that ability every 12 seconds. It’s better than his ultimate.
I think the problem is that low ranks stay out in the open a lot of the time, and will probably be stuck in the low ranks until they learn to use the map to their advantage.
Doesn’t matter, if he’s dead. I mean, outside of the Tank mode, what does he really have going for him???
Pretty good DPS with his main gun, a sticky grenade that he can use to kill people or launch himself to higher ground. Bastion has a pretty good kit. It’s just tank mode that’s a real mess.
Turret form IS better than his ultimate, but this is exclusively because his ultimate is really bad.
Much as tanks come in diffrent flavors damage does too…
Reaper, bastion and junkrat are tank busters
I’m glad I’m not the only one who sees this. Honestly, I played a decent amount of Bastion in OW1. I dislike most of his kit in OverWatch two. His is the only rework where I’m like: “Eh, I’m good, I’ll just go play someone else.”
BTW he used to do 450 damage instead of 360 so if you didn’t notice him killing people fast before then IDK what to tell you. Also yes. It’s best to have a way of blocking assault or just avoid it until it runs out. He’ll be stuck in recon for 12 seconds after. Sigma is good at eating assault. Your shield blocks a good amount then use your absorbing thing which has “infinite health”. That just means he cannot break it he just has to wait or give you shields. Orisa can block a large amount with her spin and her shield thing because armor gives 30% and the shield gives 40% reduction. D.va can also eat most of assault.
Bastion is in a better spot in general in OW2, but he is still held back by lack of mobility and tank sized hitbox.
If they gave back self repair and remove self damage I think he’d be fine in his normal kit. Artillery sucks so scrap it or make it better like if it slowed so you can “dial in” your shots or if it left Torb fire, or had a smaller falloff but lower direct damage.
Agreed. Like, I appreciate he actually has mobility in this game, but boy does he still feel rough. I think your D tier assessment from earlier is pretty on point. He’s not absolute garbage, but why would I pick him over almost any other Damage roster character?
I am not sure self-repair would be enough. other big hitbox dps has ways of avoiding being burst down instantly. Mei can iceblock and wall, torb can overload for temporary armor and increased movement speed to get back into cover, reaper can wraith out. Bastion is left hanging in the breeze to get blown up if caught out, and you WILL get caught out if you want to kill anything.
They reduced his damage output, which is “fine”, no more gimmicky surprise bastion hail mary, so give him his shield back.
