So I believe you want a bruiser then. Tanks are the ones with shields.

Is that armor constantly being applied like Brig or is it just you get 100 instantly and once it’s gone it’s gone?

considering that main support is impossible to balance rn as only one main support can really be meta/super viable, no i dont want a main support.

I however do want a main tank.

We need one. With mercy being in an awkward state we basically only have moira and Ana to choose from and Ana is highly skill dependent.

It’d be nice to have a male too.

Imagine Moira and Mercy being a lot more than a troll pick then we would have at least the choice between 3 Main Supports

We recently got Moira, that makes three main healers… They haven’t made a third anchor tank yet because they feared the meta shift that would come from having 3 ultra sturdy tanks barreling towards you, especially with Moira around; that’s why they made 28 a dive tank instead…

There’s simply no telling what they have planned for 29, but they always seem to surprise me. :slight_smile:

I made a fun concept for Athena as a main healer. I would love to know what you guys think about it!

Hero: Athena
Role: Support
Sub Role: Secondary Healer
Occupation: Overwatch’s Adjutant
Affiliation: Overwatch

Playstyle: As several of you have I’d like to see Athena as the new support healer in the game. Her primary healing mechanic would be a shield plus a heal over time effect. Her primary weapon would be an energy lash (whip). Would fire like Roadhog’s hook and would attach to the enemy sending a shock wave through it.

Look and Feel: By now most of you should have seen the concept art for Athena. (White robot)

Abilities:

LMB - Energy Lash / 80 Hp on direct hit /20 meter max range / Athena hurls her lash (whip) at a target; if it catches she can use RMB for extra damage / No reload necessary. 1 swing per 1.2 seconds. Holding down LMB will keep Energy Lash attached to target. Target can still move an perform actions. Lash will mantained attached to target for the duration of Taser Shock. Getting out of sight or range frees enemy from Energy Lash.

RMB - Taser Shock / While holding down LMB, Athena can perform a Taser Shock through her Energy Lash / 2 ticks per second. 40 hp per tick / 2.5 seconds max duration / 4 second cooldown.

E - Reboot / Upon dying Athena enters a dormant state and shuts down. While the respawn timer is going on, Reboot can be activated so Athena can respawn at the spot where she “died” (when the respawn timer ends). If the ability is not used before respawn timer runs out, Athena will respawn at her team’s spawnroom. Effect cannot occur more than once in 45 seconds.

Shift - Plasma Shield / Applies 150 Hp shields to allied hero. Shield lasts for 3 seconds / Applies heal over time effect. 50 health per second for 4 seconds - very similar to Tassadar’s ability in HotS /3 second cooldown. Only healing ability

Passive - Cortex Booster / Upon taking damage, Athena gets 10% movement speed for 2 seconds

Ultimate - Power Processor / Grants ally the ability to use its Ultimate for 5 seconds. If ally already has its Ultimate active, upon activation, Power Processor Ultimate will be used first. Upon usage, allied hero’s Ult meter stays as it was when Power Processor was applied. If ally doesn’t use Ult, Power Processor is basically wasted. Charges very slowly.

I dunno, maybe someone with a similar trait to D.va’s DM in terms of shielding? I feel like we have enough barriers in this game, I wonder what else can be played with thats not shield related.

Unpopular opinion but i want a new dps hero for once. We just got Hammond, Brigitte and Moira.

All new heroes so far

  • Ana support
  • Sombra damage
  • Orisa tank
  • Doomfist damage
  • Moira support
  • Brigitte support
  • Hammond tank

So total of 3 supports, 2 tanks and 2 damage dealer. So either tank or dps makes the most sense, but we just got a tank.

D.Va is a good hybrid of bruiser and tank and that’s probably why so many people play her and enjoy her. Maybe a tank that can put a shield on someone instead of deploy it?

How about like some sort of AoE force field thats time limited as well? Damage output has been increased a lot recently so it could fit.

Hmm, putting a shield on someone, sounds a bit like Zaryas bubble.

With putting a shield on someone I meant like Lucio’s ultimate and Brigitte Repair Pack. Put a temporary 300 health shield on someone or maybe less than that. With your force field do you mean it only blocks damage or blocks everything even the enemy team?

Oh, sorry i imagined like a personal shield, a 300 barrier does sound good as well.

Haha ofc the enemy team, to make it have counterplay, it only absorbs projectiles, not beam and melee attacks.

On the other hand, that was before they lumped Offense and Defense heroes into a single “Damage” category.
