Anyone Else Think Hero Bans are a Terrible Idea?

well now with perks that will ruin more the game, some are so broken will make ranked impossible to play, already is not fun, people will always ban ashe and doom who practically have unlimited ammo for example, this will limit the game a lot

Bans are not a necessity at all on any platform

Hero bans are a very very very bad idea, period, regardless of platform

People are denied the chance to play the character they wish to play

Blizzard is not required to address anything as the result of bans, actually

They can choose to do what they wish with the data, if anything at all

So many shooter games have hero bans, including Marvel Rivals. It discourages one tricking, which I personally prefer.

the selfish ones are the players who wish to control not only their own selection of hero, but those of other players as well

Hero bans are a very very very bad idea, and hopefully, they will be removed swiftly same as they were last time

this is a game where the hallmark has always been that every player can choose any available character

Given this, hero bans are inherently a very bad thing…bad back then when it was removed by Blizzard once they realized their mistake, and bad now as well

Exactly this. Might as well give it a try and be glad I have a good hero pool to select from LOL

Nah fam. The selfish are those who cant see how their hero negatively effects the game for everyone else and want to play it anyways. If enough players want to ban your hero, that its banned consistently, but this irks your feathers because you feel you should get to play what you want without considering how it impacts the majority of players in the lobby- you are the selfish one.

Hopefully they stay forever

Hero bans have never been removed, as weve never had hero bans like this.

We however did have hero pools which were removed quickly enough- But hero pools are very different than hero bans.

And theyll still be able to, in quick play.

This is still in your opinion*.

Many of us think hero bans are an inherently very good thing.

Hero bans have never been removed, as weve never had hero bans like this.

I am glad to repeat this correction to you whenever you say this mistake.

This was stated as a fact, when it is an opinion.

Herein lies the selfishness

Players who feel this way have selfishly decided that they know what is best not just for themselves, but for all of their team members as well. These selfish self-appointed “team captains” do not seem to realize that in this game, they control only thmselves and their characters, same as every team member

Here’s the truth of the game: that every team member gets to dcide for him/herself how he/she will contribute towards the total team effort to win the match

The selfishness is when a player decides to prevent a team member from making their own choices because of course they know what is best for everyone - even though they dont

and maybe just maybe this is the only character they know how to play

by banning their character, the selfish self-appointed team captain type dramatically lowers the chances that their team can win

even a single ban is flat-out wrong, as you are denied your personal choice of hero

this is the “team captain” again, deciding what is best for his entire team even though no one has agreed to said player making this decision

the selfish one is the one who says “me me me me me me do what I I I I I I I say m me me me I I I I I know what is best for everyone”

in a game where everyone is (and always has been) allowed to choose any available character they wish, hero bans are innately a bad thing

Hero bans were bad when they were added then swiftly removed some years back, and they are a bad idea now as well

we did indeed have hero bans a few years back

they were a huge failure, and were removed swiftly when Blizzard realized their mistake

it is a fact that hero bans are a very bad idea

punish players for liking a character, fine, just what the game needs, remove more things

some players just seem to feel the need to control not only their own choices, but those of others as well

sad but true

Punish players for only knowing how to play one character. There is a BIG difference between liking a character and only knowing how to play that single character.

No, that is not. You are incorrect. That is not a fact, that is an opinion. And I ask that the personal attacks cease. I will not be replying any further

Considering the fact that it’s a team game, we should be considering our teammates as a WHOLE but OTP consistently only think about themselves and what they like. I will switch if it helps my team or if I’m being hard countered, many OTPs will NOT.

A player should indeed be thinking about how to help their team win, but if said player decides that playing the only character they know how to play gives their team the best chance to win, then they have met their obligation

Player A does not get to decide how player B will contribute to the overall team effort to win the match

Player B solely owns this

My point is that people should learn how to play more than one character. It would be false to say that OTPs are never countered or that OTPs always fit a certain team comp. They don’t. And it IS selfish to try to force a OTP into a comp that doesn’t work or an enemy comp that hard counters it. And with hero bans, it might force some of those OTPS to actually try another character for once so they can be useful on more than just a single hero out of such a large lineup. They’ve met no obligation as having a larger hero pool would easily prevent the consequences of being a OTP.

The devs have stated on many occasions over several years that one tricking is a perfect legit way to play the game, and no one is ever required to play multiple characters under any circumstances

That said, I personally play multiple characters and I personally prefer things that way, but that doesnt mean that others who only wish to learn how to play one character should be denied doing so, particularly when it is officially rubber stamped by the devs

Ah yes because the Devs know everything and know exactly what players like playing against and with  OTPs only work if they deeply know the mechanics and defeat the heroes that counter them, but that’s not how most OTPs are at all. I personally don’t care about OTPs, but hero bans have many more positives than negatives and for a majority of players; preventing OTPs is seen as a positive.
