Of course I have, and I agree with you as far as how much having a leaver sucks. It would be nice if they had a solution to that.
But the thing is, when these things don’t happen, your ultimate rank depends on your performance and you need to focus on that more than anything else.
Similarly it is more likely that the leaver, troll, deranker or one trick are on the other team, because if you aren’t doing that, there are only 5 spots available on your team for that type of person whereas there are 6 on the other.
Just keep doing what you are doing, the wins will come naturally. I agree that these other events kind of suck, but overall they aren’t what holds you back.
I know what op is talking about but what he doesnt realize is those streaks like that where you are playing well but losing is the reason why you can even stay in a higher tier.
All you can do is put up good stats and in due time you’ll catch streaks where you will win and dont even have to work as hard.
It balances out. Its how well you weather the bad side of the coin is what sometimes matters.
Understand that just because you can use a hammer very effectively, it doesn’t make it the right tool for every task.
While you were busy doing some hammering, you most likely neglected the actual task (based on your “love” for stats).
Solo Queue comp rating should be more about personal skill.
You have to less control over your stats and is based more on external factors then your own.
You are only one out of 12 persons. Even if everyone is of equal skill (i never noticed this -> always at least 1 or 2 players who have a skill less or higher then the rest) you have only like 8% control over your game. (win/loose condition)
So a personal skill based rating for solo Que.
And a team based rating for a new comp mode for teams that is all about win/loose.
In a way, i agree with the OP. And all of my friends who quit definitely agreed.
I think they need heavier PBSR. And no, you’re not going to get away with playing lone wolf in OW. But it would feel nice to lose less SR than the ACTUAL THROWER on your team.
I get that it’s a team game. But i just think about how it FEELS to play Overwatch…
Frustrating.
No game needs to be this frustrating. No game should have RANDOM players trying to play with the constant sinking feeling that the thrower or Monkey who keeps falling off the map is costing YOU your own PERSONAL RANK. I think if people felt like their SR directly reflected THEIR PLAY, it wouldn’t be as frustrating.
People worry that it would cause players to play selfishly. I actually think it would straighten up most players, because you could no longer enjoy the trollish feeling of ruining 5 other people’s ranks like some basement dwelling loser. No, if you’re sucking it’s all on you. And the rest would see more light at the end of the tunnel in that PBSR if they just continue to TRY, and play their best. Instead, random people start throwing based on someone else’s pick before the match even starts. That crap would end if rank was mostly PBSR.
When winning you usually get better stats. Enemy give up, start doing dumb things, you can take more risks etc… So it stays always better to win.
Also if they use MMR more to determine your rank. And MMR is based more on team based stats then players are forced to work better together:
In the current system people feel more they have to carry them self’s without help of the team. Resulting in less actual team play.
With team based MMR people would actually try more to work together.
If you have a stats overview in the end like:
damage done every 10 minutes: 5830 = 5 MMR points
damage done every 10 minutes during group fights: 4203 = 20 MMR points
etc…
People would stay more with their teams and dont go solo spawn camping or something.
How is it irony to ask for people to be held accountable for their rank? People play bad and get wins all the time thanks to team carry or the other team having a more than likely complication (quitter, one trick, etc…)
